January 8th, 1940.
The City Council met in regular session on this date, Mayor
M. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers
were present; Aldermen r^. R. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, J. C.
Godbey, C. C. Hamilton and S. E. Wilcox. Officers: T. U. Nunn,
city attorney; C. S. Sanders, rssessor and collector; Albert
May marshal; M. L. Cates, secretary, and R. R. Ward, manager
utilities,
On motion of Alderman Tilcox, minutes of the previous meeting
were approved as read.
On motion of Alderman Buchholz, the approved ac�oounts were
ordered paid.
On Motion of Alderman Hamilton to reports of officers, Byrom,
treasurer; Sanders, assessor and collector and Albert May, marshal$
were received and filed.
Chairman of the resolution Commitee J. C. Godbey offered the fol-
lowing resolution:
"Resolution of the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas, with reference to extensions of sewer and water lines.
"I.Yhereas, there is certian propert within the city limits
that is not accessable to the ciigx sewer mains, the water mains,
and "
"Rhereas, the expense of extending mains to -such property is
too great fornthe city to make such extensions, without assurance
that the same will either be paid for by the owners of such prop-
erty, or that the city will be promptly reimbursed for the making
of same,
"Therefore, be it resolved, that all persons owning or hereafter
purchasing property that is not at this time serviced by or accessable
tosewer and water mains, hereby put upon notice that the city will "
not make extensions to such property until it shall reasonably appear '
to the Manager of the City Utilities, that the profits from Such extene
cions will within a reasonable time pay for the making of the same.
That all persons building upon or improving property within the city,
that is not now serviced with sewer and water lines, arrange with
the Roger of the City Utilities to have such servicing made, with
arrangements to pay for the same, wheh the same shall be so made:

Alderman Godbey, after reading the above moved that the same be
passed. Alderman J. R. Chastain seconded the motion, and the same
passed passed unanimously.
Chairman of Resolttion Committee J. C. Godbey read the following
resolution, snd moved that same be passed:
" Be it resolved, that the following water rates for both
Domestic and Commercial water customers, in the City of Georgetown,
Texas, be hereby adopted to become effective February 1st, 1940:
First 4000 gallons used, $1.25; next 4000 gallons used, 25,e per M
Gals., $1.00; Next 6000 gallons used, 25X perMGal. $1.50; Next
10,000 gallons used, 20X per M Gals. $2.00. Balance of bill 18c
per M gallons. 10% Discount to apply on all bills paid by the 10th
of each month."
The motion was seconded by J. R. Chastain and was carried
unanimously.
There appearing no further business for this session of
the Council Alderman Godbey moved that the Council adjourn subject
to call. The motion was duly seconded by Alderman Buchholz and
was carried. �_,
