Nov. 139 1939.
Then City Council met in regular session in the City Hall
on the above date, Mayor M. F. Smith, presiding, the fol-
lowing aldermen and officers being present: Aldermen: F. B.
Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, J. C. Godbey, C. C. Hamitlton and
S. F. 'Yileox. Officials: T. T?. Nunn, city attorney; C. S.
Sanders, assessor and collector; Albert Ajay, marshal: M. L.
Cates, Secretary.
The minutes of all previous meetings were read and approved
on m6tion of Ald. J. R. Chastain.
On motion of Ald. C. C. namilton all approved accounts were
ordered paid.
Reports of city Assessor and Oollector, Q_ S. Sanders, and
'Marshal Albert May were read and on motion of Ald. Chastain
were filed.
Committbeman J. C. Godbey presented an ordinance, "denying the
application of the Southwest Telephone Companyfor an increase in
its rates, and again declaring, establishing and fixing the rates
that it may charge," and moved that the said ordinance be read
in full. The motion was seconded by Alderman F. E. Buchholz,
and was carried unanimously, t',te following being the vote;
Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Hamilton, 7ilcox. Noes --None.
Alderman J. C. Godbey moved that the usual procedure forY,,pass-
ing ordinances be herebv susnencirA, that tho mala ordinance bt
read by dantion and bassed to the second reading. The motion was
seconded by Alderman S. F. 'RTilcox, and wa- carried, all membsre

On motion of Alderman C. C, Hamilton all bids submitted for
the landscaping and rlantinp on the Codv ?demnrial Library

exercises.
