HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 10.30.1929 CC-R66 M Georgetown, Texas y Oebober 30th, 1939 C..� The City Council of the City of Georgetown, TexaA, met in - adjourned Regular Session at the City Ha71 on the above date, being the J(ith day of Ocober, 1939, with Mayor M. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen being present: F. E. Buchholz. J. R. Chastain. J. C. Godbey, C. C. Hamilton, and S. E. Tilcox. Other officials of the City present were: W. H. Nunn, city attorney; C. S. SANders, tax assessor'and collector; Albert May, marshal, and M. L. Cates, city secretary. This session of the Council was called to order by Mayor M. Smith, who stated the purpose of the meeting wap fnr the Council to set as a Court of Inquiry to hear such testimony as may be brought before it pertaining to raising of the tilephone rated in the Georgetown Telephone Exchange, known as Shathwest Telephone Company. Mr. A. G. Davidson, representing the telephone company was the only witness called for the said companv. Messrs. C. S. Sanders, public accountant, and city tax assessor and collector and 11r. W. I. Stump, tax assessor and collector for Georgetown Independent School District. were witnesses for the City. Diss Jewel Parsley, was stenographer for the Court, recording all testimony. The couttwas conducted in the presence of twenty or more repre- sentative business men of Georgetown. At After the hearing at the-)testtmony the adjourned its session indefinitely for consideration of the testimony and the render- ing of its verdict. The Mayor then called the Council to order for the pupDsse of attending such other buainese as may be brought before it. Alderman J. C. Godbey presented the following Resoltution and moved that it be passed: "Resolved, that the contract completion due dates for Contract No. 2 PWA Docket Tex 2606-F Cody Memorial Library building, of which R. H. Folmar is the contractor, -be and the sane is hereby extended from September 240 1939 to and ineluding October 9, 1939 and that this extension is contingent ujpon `the apnroval of the Regional Director, public Works Administration." The motion was seconded by '?. E. Buchholz, and was passed unanimously.
