The -City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor
It. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers beibg pros
eat: Aldermen F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chestaint J. C. Godbey. C. C.
Hamilton and S. E. Tilcox. Officers, 'al. '3. Vunn,' city attorney;
C. S. Sanders, assessor and collector: ?filbert -May, marshal, M. L.
Cates, secretary.
On motion of'Alderman C. C. Hamilton all anproved accounts wero
ordered paid.
Reports of tax assessor and Collector C. S. Sanders and Marshal Albert
May were read and on motion of Alderman Chastain, seconded by Alderman
Wilcox were ordered filed.
On motion of -Alderman S. E. Wilaox,-seconded by Alderman C. C. Hamil•
tun the official bond of Assessor and Collector C. S. Sanders wan
srDroved.
Dr. John W. Bergin, president of Southwestern University were present
and reported that the library building committee of the university
were to meet, together with the bu-ildina committee the following
week, to cooDerate with a committee from the city council to decide
the ulan of operation of the library. On motion of Alderman J. C.
Godbev, seconded byAlderman C. C. Hamilton, the Mayor was authorizAd
to annoint the council committeemen. The motion carried and Havor
Smith aDDointed Aldermen S. F..Tilcox and--'. E. Buchholz.
The formal opening of the library was diecusatd. Mayor Smith statod
he had been informed that November 5th wag the anniversary of the birth
of Prof. C. C. Cody in whomp memory the library wag named,that that data
be set as formal opening davv at -2T:;0 n.m.- Alderman J. C. Godbey made
a motion that the mScy.0 �ss�augsestinn be accepted, Alderman J. R. Chas-
tain seconded the motion, which was amended so as to authorize Mayor
Smthh to formulate a program and to issue invitations. The motion
was carried unanimously.
On motion of Alderman J. C. Godbey, seconded by Alderman -C. C. Hamil-
ton, that the balance of the money rema'ninm in the library fund
be used for landscarine on the library &iVnu44The motion carried
unanimously.
On motion of Alderman P. F. Buchholz ,seconded by -Alderman --J. R. Chas-
tain,-the"Council adjourned tntil Monday night, Octobe-r 1f, 19391
at which time. -it is to gait �Ls i Court, to hear such evidence am may

in the city of Georgetown,'as requested by Southwest Teletl�one Company.
The motion was c arried without a dissenting vote.
