HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 08.14.1939 CC-R61 Georgetown, Texas August 14, 1939 The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor M. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers being present: Aldermen: F. E. BUchholz, J. R. Chastain, J. C. Godbey, C. C. Hamilton and S. Be Wilcox. Officers: W. H. Nunn, city attorney; Albert Mays marshal, M. L. Catesp and R. E. Ward, Manager. On motion of Alderman F. E. Buchholz minutes of the prvious meeting were approved as read. All approved accounts were ordered paid, also on motion of Alderman Buchholz, seconded by Alderman C. C. Hamilton. A commitee of citizens appeared before the council complaining of the detoured traffic of trucks, ettt. passing through cer:tian shpar6d streets on which their residences mrae located, thus creating a dust nuisance. The Council pvomised cooperation in endeavoring to remedy the- situstion. Alderman J. C. Godbey read the following Resolution, and moved that it be adopted: Resolved, that Mr. Cameron Fairchild, architect, be empowered by this body to act as their official agent in signing all Charge Orders and necessary papers in connection with the con- struction of the Cody Memorial Contract --Tex, 2606-F." The motion was seconded by Alderman F. Be Buchholz, and was passed without a dissenting vote. The following resignation paper was rad by Mayor Smith: " To the Honorable Mayor and City Councilmen: "On account of my physical Condition I have been unable to render the efficient service that my office demands, and due to this fact Y request you to accept my resignation as City Tax Assessot and'Col- lector, I deeply express mjr appreeiatiod for the appointment and all past courtesies you have shown me. Sincerely yours, Lott Be Rogers" On the motion of Alderman J. C. Godbey, seconded by Alderman S-, Be Wilcox, the above resignation was unanimously and regretfully ac- cepted. ftp. Upon the acceptance of the above resignation, it being deemed im- portant that the vacancy thus created be filled at once, Mayor Smith presented the name of Co S. Sanders for appointment by ehe council, to fill the unexpired term as City Tax Assessor and Col- lector, Abmotion was made by Alderman S. Be 'Wilcox that the ap- pointment of Mr. Sanders bee ratified, and Alderman J. R. Chas- tain seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously, whereuppn the city secretary had the appoint tee execute the oath of office.
