HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2017-71 - Change Street NameORDINANCE NO. a 0 1-7--71 An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, renaming the 800 Block through 1500 Block of FM 1460 to Old 1460 Trl; repealing conflicting ordinances and resolutions; including a severability clause; and establishing an effective date. Whereas, on January 24, 2006, the City adopted an ordinance establishing a uniform addressing and street naming policy for the City; and Whereas, due to realignment of FM 1460 due to new construction the 800 Block through 1500 Block of the current FM 1460 will no longer be on the State System identified as FM 1460; and Whereas, the continued use of the name "FM 1460" on the existing portion is inconsistent with the City's street naming policy; and Whereas, by a City initiated request for new street name resulted in a majority of adjacent resident and property owners votes being in favor of the requested change; and Whereas, the City Council of the City of Georgetown finds that it is in the public's best interest to assign names to the subject streets in a manner consistent with the City's street naming policy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements the following Vision Statements, Goals and Policies of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan: Goal 3: Provide a development framework for the fringe that guides sound, sustainable patterns of land use, limits sprawl, protects community character, demonstrates sound stewardship of the environment, and provides for efficient provision of public services and facilities as the city expands. and further finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other 2030 Comprehensive Plan Vision Statements, Goals and Policies.. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby: Ordinance No. Change to Street Name: FM 1460 Date Approved: 2017 Page 1 of 2 Renames the 800 Block through 1500 Block the road currently known as "FM 1460" to "Old 1460 Trl" as presented in Exhibit A of this Ordinance Section 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect. Section 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. Section 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
