HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_GGAF_07.26.2017Minutes General Government and Finance Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 4:30 PM The General Government and Finance Advisory Board met on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 4:30 PM at the Georgetown Communications and Technology building (GOAT), located at 510 West 96 Street, Georgetown, Texas. Board Members Present: Tommy Gonzalez, Chair Chere' Heintzman, Secretary John Hesser, District 3 Stu McLennan Board Members Absent: James Bralski Others Present None Legislative Regular Agenda City Staff Present: David Morgan, City Manager Jackson Daly, Assistant to the City Manager Trish Long, Facilities Superintendent Eric Nuner, Assistant Park & Recreating Director Tadd Phillips, HR Director Danella Elliot, Executive Assistant Sabrina Poldrack, Finance Admin Tommy Gonzalez, Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:31 p.m. He asked that everyone in the room introduce themselves for the new Board Member, Stu McLennan. All the people listed above introduced themselves, aside from James Bralski who absent from the meeting. A Review minutes from the June 28, 2017 General Government and Finance (GGAF) Advisory Board — Danella Elliott, Executive Assistant Board did not have any comments regarding the minutes from June 28, 2017. Motion to approve the minutes by John Hesser, second by Chere' Heintzmann. Approved 4-0; James Bralski absent. B Consideration and possible action to elect a new Secretary for the General Government and Finance Board (GGAF) to fill a vacancy. — Danella Elliott, Board Liaison Motion to nominate Chere' Heintzman as Board Secretary by Chere' Heintzman, second by Tommy Gonzalez. Approved 4-0; James Bralski absent. Minutes General Government and Finance Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 4:30 PM C Consideration and possible action to recommend contracting with DecorIQ of Fate, Texas, pending a City Council appropriation in the FY2018 budget, in the amount not to exceed $87,400 for the leasing, installation, maintenance, and removal of the 2017 holiday lights, the installation and maintenance of the building cornice lights, and the installation and removal of the holiday wreaths and tree. – Jack Daly, Assistant to the City Manager; Trish Long, Facilities Superintendent Jack Daly presented to the Board information on possibly renewing the City's contract with DecorIQ, stating this would be the 3' year of renewal with the vendor and the City. He explained that the bulk of the funding for this project comes out of the Utility Department's budget. This is a chance for the City to demonstrate the use of LED lights and solar energy, as Mayor Dale Ross will make a speech to the Community prior to the lighting ceremony. Other groups that are included in funding the project are the Facilities Operating Fund, as they maintenance the lights, Convention and Visitor's Bureau, which uses funds from the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT), and also the Williamson County Museum. Jack explained how the lights were important to the Citizens of Georgetown and also to the local businesses as the lights are turned on at the busiest shopping day of the year, the Friday after Thanksgiving. After some discussion on future ideas about possibly expanding where lights are placed as well as partnering with businesses on costs, Stu McLennan motioned to approve the item, as is, second by Chere' Heintzman. Approved 4-0; James Bralski absent. Motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:45 p.m. by John Hesser; second by Stu McLennan.
