STANDARDS ORDINANCE: PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN ON THE 11TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 1974,
BY ADDING SECTION la AMMENDMENTS MADE IN SAID CODE. TO AMMEND
SECTION 103.2 (a) (3) OF THE 1973 EDITION OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD
HOUSING CODE AS FOLLOWS: "ALLOW 120 DAYS FOR PERFORMANCE OF ANY
ACT IT REQUIRES EXCEPT FOR THOSE ESTABLISHED BY SECTION 306 -SANITATION
REQUIREMENTS, WHERE A MINIMUM OF 10 DAYS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR PER-
FORMANCE," AND DECLARING EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown did enact an Ordinance
establishing Minimum Health and Housing Standards on February 11, 1974, incorporated
fully and without ammendment thereto the 1973 Edition of the Southern Standard Housing
Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 103.2 (a) of said Housing Code establishes code enforcement
procedures, specifically detailing the manner in which a notice of alleged violation is
given; and
WHEREAS, Section 103.2 (a) (3) allow 120 days time for the performance of any
act it (the Code) requires; and
WHEREAS, Section 306.4 CARE OF PREMISES makes it unlawful for the owner or
occupant of a residential building to utilize the premises for open storage of such items
as abandoned motor vehicles, ice boxes, refrigerators, stoves, glass, building material,
building rubbish or similar items and makes it the responsibility of every such owner or
occupant to keep the premises of such residential property clean and to remove from the
premises all such abandoned items as listed above, including but not limited to weeds,
dead trees, trash, garbage, etc., upon notice from the Building Official; and
WHEREAS, 120 days is an excessive amount of time to be allowed for compliance
with Section 306.4 of the Code; therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
SECTION- 1. "The Minimum Health and Housing Standards Ordinance" passed and adopted
on the 11th day of February 1974, is ammended by adding after Section 1 as follows:
SECTION la. AMMENDMENTS MADE IN SAID CODE
Ammend Section 103.2 (a) (3 of the 1973 Edition of the Southern Standard Housing
Code to read: "Allow 120 days for performance of any act it requires except for those
established by Section 306 - SANITATION REQUIREMENTS, where a minimum of
10 days will be allowed for performance."
SECTION 2. WHEREAS an emergency is apparent for immediate preservation of public
health and sanitation that requires this ordinance to become effective at once; therefore
upon passage of this ordinance by a vote of at least four (4) members of the Council, it
shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as made and provided by the Charter
of the City of Georgetown, Texas.
