A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, '
AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF ELECTRICAL
EXAMINERS TO CERTIFY ALL PRESENTLY
LICENSED MASTER ELECTRICIANS WHO
HOLD GEORGETOWN MASTER ELECTRICIAN'S
LICENSES AND TO CERTIFY AND LICENSE
JOURNEYMEN ELECTRICIANS NOW EMPLOYED
BY GEORGETOWN LICENSED ELECTRICIANS
AND MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIANS PERMANENTLY
EMPLOYED BY INSTITUTIONS AND BUSINESSES
WITHIN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN.
WHEREAS, the City L,, <.4'eorgetown had an Electrican's Licensing
Ordinance in effect prior to repeal by the present Electrical Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, said repealed ordinance did provide for examination,
certification and issuance of Master Electrician's Licenses but no other
category of license; and
WHEREAS, Master Electricians previously licensed were authorized
to contract for and perform Master Electrician supervision of electrical
work within the City and city electrical service area; and
WHEREAS, Master Electricians previously licensed had in their
permanent employment qualified journeymen and journeymen (restricted)
electricians and business and institution.; ,xjd in their permanent employ-
ment maintenance electricians who were not licensed under the rescinded
electrical ordinance; and
WHEREAS, a method of establishing certiffcation and licensing of
electricians active in the trade but unlicensed under the rescinded electrical
ordinance is needed to reduce undue hardships on individuals affected; now
therefore be it
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown that the
City Building Official is authorized to issue Electrical Contractor
licenses and Master Electrician licenses to all holders of a City of
Georgetown Master Electrician's license under the rescinded ordinance
for the calendar year of 1979 with no additional fee and to issue journeyman,
journeyman (restricted), apprentice, and maintenance electrician's
licenses to individuals permanently employed in the trade by Georgetown
Master Electricians, Businesses and Institutions after certification by
the Board of Electrical Examiners of the City of Georgetown at the renewal
fee authorized in the Electrical Ordinance.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of March, 1979.
