HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 10.11.1977 - Firemen's RetirementRESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SENATE BILL 411 ELECTING NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIREMENS RELIEF AND RETIREMENT FUND PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Senate Bill 411 of the Texas Legislature created a Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund for firefighters who serve without monetary remuneration; and WHEREAS, the said Act provides for the administration of the fund and the distribution of benefits, establishing solvency and disclosure requirements for all firefighters pension plans for firefighters who serve without monetary remuneration; and WHEREAS, said Act provides that contributions and benefits shall not be considered compensation for such services; and WHEREAS, the membership of the Volunteer Firefighting Department of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas has elected to waive any rights under said Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Retirement Fund and has elected not to be covered by said Act; and WHEREAS, said Senate Bill 411 requires a city which elects not to participate in the fund must adopt a resolution exempting itself from the requirements of the Act no later than October 28, 1977: THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Georgetown at its regular meeting on October 11, 1977, does hereby enact the resolution as follows: RESOLVED, the City of Georgetown, Texas does hereby elect not to participate in the Bolunteer Firemens Relief and Retirement Fund. y The foregoing resolution was on this date passed by a unanimous vote by all voting members of the City Council.
