HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 11.12.1906 - SidewalksAN ORDINANCE R,GULATING THE USE OF SIMWALKS IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AND FAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO OBSTRUCT THA 3AN3 AND FIXING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas. That it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to not up or cause to be set up any awning or other post on any sidewalk in this City, or to suspend or in any other way put up any awning, sign, sample or any other article over such sidewalk lees than eight (8) feet above such sidewalk, or to expose or offer for sale or show any merchandise or other property whatever on such sidewalk, or to throw or place any box, merchandise, sign, or other obstruction of any kind what- ever on such sidewalk so as to obstruct such sidewalk in any manner whatever, or to throw or place upon such sidewalk any fruit of any kind or the peelings of fruit of any kind whatever, or to congregate on ,such sidewalk so as to obstruct the same, and arW person violating any of the provisions of this ordin- ance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convic- tion shall be fined in any sum not exceeding Twenty-five (25) Dollars, and each and every day that such violation is con- tinued shall constitute a distinct and separate offense; provided that nothing in this ordinance shall prevent any merchant from placing packages or boxes of merchandise which he may be receiving or sending away upon such sidewalk if the same do not occupy more than f our(4) feet of such sidewalk and are alllowed to remain there only a reasonable time.
