BURIAL OF THE DEAD IR THE CITY OF GBORGHTOWN9 TEXAS AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF SUCH REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas:
Section 1, within the corporate limits of this City there
shall be only two places set apart used for the burial of the
bodies of deceased persons, in which such dead body may be interred
and buried, according to wnstever manner, and wast reiigious rites
go shall seen best according to the religious beliefs or tenets of
the person or persons having in charge the funeral services of such
dead person.
Section 2. The two places mentioned in Section 1. hereof ares

ern portion of the City according to its metes, bounds, enclosures
and area as the same is and exists at this times Farah 12thq 1906,
Seconds The Southern Presbyterian Church demetery or-graveyardq
located in the Southern part of the City# according to its mates,
bounds, enclosures and area as it now exists, said last mentioned
cemetery being designated on the map of this City as Out Lot No. 3,
Division B.
Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person, persons# Pira,
or corporation, having in charge the cadaver or dead body of any
person, to reep the same above groundp or unburied or undisposed
of within the limits of this City for a longer period than Forty-
eight hours, unless such body has been properly embalmed; and if
said person, personsy firm or corporation so in charge of such
dead body or cadaver intends to bury the same within the limits
of this City it shall become his or their duty before the expir-
ation of the time provided herein for the burial of the deadp to
bury said body in a decent manner and at the customary depth in
so far as it is practicable, within the metes and bounds of one
of the places hereinbefore designated and set apart for the burial
of the dead, and in no other place within the corporate limits
of this City, unless having first obtained.the consent of the
City Council.
Section 4. It shall be unlawful for any person, persons,
firm,assoeiation of persons or eorporationt who now, or may

hereafter own# manage or control# any cemetery" graveyard or
burying groundwithin the corporate limits of this City# and
who might wish to enlarge the boundaries or areas of such cem-
etery, graveyard or burying ground# to do so without first
having obtained the consent of the City Council# which may
either grant or refuse such consent within their disoretion,
and if the same be granted, the aforesaid persons persons#
firms association or persons or corporation shall be governed
by the designations of the City Councils and any person viol-
ating the provisions of this section shall be punished as
hereinafter provided.
Section 5. The person# persons# firm#assooistion of per -
sone, or corporation# Owning* or having in charge and control
either of the cemetery or graveyards designaaed in Section 2,
hereof# shall within their disorstion# sell or rent lots or
plots within such enclosures, for the purpose of burying the
deed at a reasonable amount and price for the same which said
amount and price shall be uniform to one and all whoa they may
permit to buy or rent burying lots within such enclosures# and
a violation of the provisions of this section shall be punished
as is hereinafter provided.
Section B. Any persons puf0sons# firms association Of
persons# or corporation# either in the singular or plural num-
bers who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinances
as herein set forth in any manner whatsoever# shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanors and upon conviction thereof# shall
be fined in any sun not to exceed Twenty-five Dollars; and
each separate day such violation of these provisions be allowed
to remain or exist shall constitute and be a separate offense;
provided# however# there shall be nothing in this ordinan¢e

Section 7. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

Section 8. This ordinance shall go into affect from
and after its publication according to law.
