SALE OF LOTS_ MMBIN, AND PRBSCRIBING REGULATIONS FOR TIM BURIAL
OF SUCH BODIES THBRBIN.
HB IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of George-
town that$
Section 1. The following described tract of land, to -wits -
All that certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being situated
in Williamson County, Texas, being a part of the J.P. Pulsifer
1/3 League, and which is more particularly described as follows
to -wits Beginning at the S.H. corner of Block No. -2, a stone
mound on the South line of said Puliifer survey 475 varas N. 71
B. from the S.W. corner of said Pulsifer survey. Thence N. 19 W.
267 varas to a stake that is 40 feet S. 19 A. from the North
line of the Georgetown and Liberty Hill, road, Thence S. 85J B.
252 varas to a point that is 40 feet from the North line of said
road. Thence S. 77* H. 315 varas to a stake that is 40 feet
from the North line of said resod and on the South line of said '
Pulsifer survey. Thence S. 71 W. with said South line 499 varas
to the place of beginning, containing 12 7/10 acres of land,
and being the same land which was conveyed by Mrs. M.L.Dimmitt
to the City of Georgetown by deed dated December 18th, 1905,
and recorded in Vol. 117 p. 173 of the Deed records of said
County* is hereby not apart as a public graveyard for the bur-
ial of the bodies of deceased persons, but no bodies shall be
buried therin except as is in this ordinance hereinafter provided.
Section 2. Pour and one-half acres of the above described
tract of land, and which is described as follows, to -wits
Beginning at the Bast corner of the tract of land described in
Section ke hereof, a stake in the South line of the Georgetown
and Liberty Hill road. Thence S. 71 W. 307 4/10 varas to stake
for the S.W. corner. Thence N. 19 W. 181 8/10 varas to a stake
in the South line of said rand. Thence with the South line of
said road to the place of beginning, is hereby not aside as a
burial place for persons of African descent, and shall be used
for no other purpose, and the bodies of no other persons shall
be buried therein and it shall be known as The Oak Hill Cemetery,
Section 3. Said 4* &ores shall be fenced by the City se-
parately from the balance of said tract of land, and a plat of
same as now laid off and surveyed shall be recorded in the
Deed Records of Williamson County, Texas, and the Mayor to hereby

authorized# empowered and directed to execute and deliver
for and in the name of the City of Georgetown at any time
to any pesons of African descent proper deeds of conveyance
to any lots shown in said plat in the North tier of lots
numbered from 1 to 75 or in the South tier of lots numbered
from 1 to 54# upon payment by such person into the treasury=
of the City of Five Dollars cash and upon such person paying
the necessary costs of eseouting said deed# but in no case
shall more than one lot be conveyed to any person unless there
is no more room for the burial of bodies in the first lot con-
veyed to such person.
Section 4. The money received on the sale of lots as
provided in the next preceding section shall be kept in a fund
to be known as The Oak Hill Oemetery Bund# and shall be set
aside and used only for the care and improvement of said ground#
and shall be expended only upon the order of the City Council.
Section 5. The two tiers of strips of land on the lest
end of said 4* acres and as shown on said plat and each tier
being numbered from 1 to 4 is hereby not aside as a burial
ground for the bodies of deceased persons of African descent who
own no lot and whose people are too poor to buy such lot. The
bodies buried in such strips shall be buried therin in regular
order# as followss the first grave shall be in the South and
of strip No. 1 of the South tier, and the next grave shall be
placed as close to the first as can conveniently be done until
said strip is full and then the other strips in the South tier
shall be filled in numerical order in the same scanner# and then
the strips in the North tier shall be used in numerical order
in the same way.
Section 6. At the regular meeting of the City Council
in Mays 1906 and every two years thereafter the Mayor, by and
with the advice and consent of the Council shall appoint a
committee of five reputable negroes residing in this City# whose
duty it shall be to namages control# and care for said ground
herein set apart for the burial of persons of African descent#
and to supervise the burial of bodies therein and such com-
mittee shall perform such other duties as may be directed by
the Council frost time to time.
Section 7. A strip of land Twenty-four feet wide and ad-
joining the 4* acre tract hereinbefore mentioned on the West is
hereby set aside as a burial place for the bodies of deceased

Mexicans, and such bodies shall be buried therein in regular
order as followss The first body shall be buried at the South
end of this strip within six feet of said 4* sore tract, and
the next body shall be buried to the Worth of said first guave
and as close thereto as can conveniently be done, and so on
for the entire length of said strip, and then another line of
graves shall be started at the South end of said strip and on
the West of and within six feet of the first line of gravest
and no charge shall be made by the City for the land mentioned
in this section, unless the parties so buying shall desire to
buy a lot in this strip, %nd if they da desire, the Mayor is
authorized to out off and sell same for $5.00 sash.
Section 8. The balance of said 12 7/10 &ore tract of
land is hereby set aside as a burial place for the bodies of
white people who own no burial ground and desire to bury there•
Ing and the bodies buried in such part of said.tract of land
shall be buried in -regular order, commencing on the South within
12 feet of the strip mentioned in Section 7, and running a line
of graves North in the same manner as is provided in Section 7
hereof.
Section 9. No dead body shall be buried in any part of
said tract of land described in section I hereof without the
person or persons burying such body shall have first obtained
the consent of the Mayor, or in his absence of the Mayor pro
tem, for such burial, provided that this section shall not apply
to Negroes who are to be buried in the 4* acre tract before
described.
Section 10. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not exceeding Ten
Dollars.
Section 11. This ordinance shall go into effect from
and after its publication according to law.
