I?E IT ORDAINED 7' TiT;,, CITY Cr)MTCIL nF G�.,ORGE'TOWN, TEXAS: Section l: That every automobile, or other motor vehicle, which shall stand upon, or be used upon any :2_f the public streets, or public pl aces, in the City of Geo Fd; town, Texas, for the purpose of soliciting the carrying of, or shall re- ceive, di schar, e, or carry for hire, any passenger, whether the destination of such passenger shall be some point within or without the city limits, shall before such car is an used for said purpose,be by the owner or person in charge thereof, re,;istered with the city clerk of the city of Georgetown, Texas, add pay an annual license, as hereinafter provided. Section 2: Such registration as provided in section one hereof shall be by the clerk vecorded in a well bound book, kept atd used alone for that purpo se, the name and post -office address of the owner of said car, or other motor vehicle,or the per- son in charge of same; the county whetein said car was re- gistered, and the regi stry number thereof; and the city clerk shall be entitled to and receive a fee of 50 cents for each such registration, which shall be T)aid by the owner or person in charge, so re i stering said automobile or other vehicle. Section 3: That befo. a any person eha,ll register an automo- bile, or other motor vehicle, under the terms of this ordinance, as hereinbefore provided, he shall be required to nay to the city assessor and collector of taxes the sum of Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars as an annual license tax, and shall receive from the city assessor and collector a receipt therefor show- ing the number of the a}atomobile or other motor vehicle, the name and post -office address of the owner, or person in charge, and date ,f issuance and date of expiration of said permit under tete receipt so i slued, and after such automo- bile, or other motor vehicle, shall be registered by the city clerk, as hereinbefore provided, said receipt so issued by the city assessmr and collector shall be and constitute a license for the operation of such automobile or other motor vehicle, under the terms of this ordinance. R] Section 4; Before any person shall be granted a license for the operation of an automobile, or other motor vehicle,as provided in section one of this ordinance, such person shall procure and file with the City Clerk for each automobile,or other motor vehicle, to be licensed, an indemnity bond or policy of insurance, executed by himself and by some bonding company, surety, or in-urance corporation, authorized by the Laws of the State of Texas to do business within the State, ss surety, payable to the Mayor of the City of George- town,Texas, and subject to the approval of the City Council as to form and sufficiency; conditioned that the applicant for license shall pay any and all judgments of court finally rendered against him, his servants, or employees, to the ex- tent of said bond for damages on account of injuries to or death of any one person or injury to the property of any one person, and for all damages to the extent of said bond on account of injuries to persons and property caused by the negligence of such applicant for liaense,hiis servants or em- ployees in the operation or conduct of such automobile or other motor vehicle; and further conditioned that the said applicant for license shall save the City of, Georgetown,Toxas, harmless from any and all claims,liabilitiee,judgmente,costs damages or expense, resulting from the granting of the license as herein provided, from any and all acts done by the licensee, his servants and employees thereunder; provided, however, that in lieu of a corporate bond or policy as provided for in t',A% section, such bond may be executed by two or more personal sureties, residents of Williarn!_!on County,Texa.s, who shall attach to such bond a schedule showing ownership by each 'of them of real estate situated in Williamson County,Texes, free of incumbrance and subject to no claims of exempti&n, of the actual market value of at leP.st double the amount of said bond, and such schedule shall be verified by the affidavits of such sureties; the bond, or personal vecuri ty, as required in this section to be in the siuq of Two Thouoand (00,000.00) Toll arra. Section 5: That it shall be unlawful for any person to Mand err stop any automobile, or other motor vehicle,on amy of the public streets or places within the City of Georgetown, Texas, for the purpose of soliciting or receiving, or to solicit or receive any person or p4rsons for transportation in such automobile, or motor vehicle,to. any place for hire, whether the dstination of such person to be transported in such automobile or other motor vehicle be within or without the corporate limits of said City, unless such automobile or ether motor vehicle, shall first have been regi stei ed,as provided for in this ordinance, executed and filed with the city Clerk the gond as provided for in section 4 hereof, nai d the anneal license tax, a s herein provided, and regis- tered said car, autbrnobile or other motor vehicle,as pro- vided by the terms of this ordinance. Section 6; That any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance shell be deemed guilty of a mi fsdemea.nnr and upon nnnviction in the corporation court of said city of Georgetown,Texap, shall be punished by fine of not less than Five Dollsrs and not more than one Hun- dred Dollars, and each day such person shall be so en- gaged in soliciting or receiving passengers within said city contrary to this ordinance shall constitute a sepa- rate offense. Section Q; The fact that there are now cars being used within the City of Georgetown as service cars for hire, and there being now no law or ordnance in force within the City of Georgetown regulating Paizzie creates an emergency and public necessity that this ordinance be and the same is he,•eby de- clared to be an erner„ency mea.pure and that the rules requiring ordinances to be read before the Council at three different meetings be and the r!a_me arkereby suspended,and this ordi- nance passed upnl1 its first, noeond and third reading and final papsage and be in full force and effect after its publication according to law. passes this: the 1 2th , day of July ,1915 . .Approved. this the 12th day of July,1015.
