HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 03.08.1976 - GarbageAN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE "GARBAGE AND TRASH ORDINANCE" PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN ON THE 10TH DAY OF MARCH, 1975, BY AMENDING SECTION 4 TO INCLUDE THE LENGTH AND SIZE OF BUNDLES OF BRUSH -AS DEFINED IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED GARBAGE AND TRASH ORDINANCE AND THE PLACING OF TRASH IN STANDARD CONTAINERS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: Section 4 of the "Garbage and Trash Ordinance" of the City of Georgetown, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 4. Collection of Garbage, Refuse, Brush, Trash, and Other Waste Material. It shall be the duty of the head of every family occupying or in possession of any house, building, flat, apartment, tenement, or dwelling place in the City of Georgetown which is a private residence and for which a garbage container is required under this Ordinance, to place or cause to be placed such contain er in the alley at the rear of the lot of said premises not exceeding three feet from the property line of the premises served, for the removal of the contents of the container, at such times and in such manner as the City of Georgetown may direct. In the event it is not practicable to collect and remove the garbage from the alley, the owner, occupant, tenant, or lessee of the premises shall place such garbage container at the street curb line in front of the property. The City Manager shall have the authority to designate the location of such containers, taking into consider- ation, among other things, convenience to collection crews, convenience to the customer, hazardous conditions such as electrical wiring, danger of the collector being bitten by household pets, and other such matters. A I I brush (trees, tree limbs, shrub limbs, branches, or trimmings which cannot be handled in standard garbage trucks) to be removed from premises shall be trimmed free of branches, cut in lengths not to exceed four feet in length, and shall be tied in bundles not to exceed one hundred pounds. All brush, when prepared in accordance with this section, must be placed between the curb line and the property line on the premises from which same is to be collected and removed or in alleys as defined. All trash (refuse other than garbage, brush, large appliance, and trees) to be removed from the premises shall be placed in appropriate containers and placed between the curb line and the property line on the premises from which same is to be collected and removed or in alleys as defined. All brush and trash, when prepared in accordance with this ordinance, will be collected from premises free of charge. PASSED on the first reading this 9th day of February, 1976, by a unanimous vote of all members of the council.
