HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 10.22.1979 - Rates of Utilities466 Orci'inonce No 79-42 AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING AND FIXING RATES AND CHARGES FOR SALES AND SERVICES OF ELECTRIC, WATER, WASTEWATER, AND GARBAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, PRESCRIBING THE TIME FOR PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS AND PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT, SETTING DEPOSITS FOR UTILITIES, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS, AND ORDERS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS SECTION I The monthly rates and charges for the sales made of services rendered by the Electric, Water, Wastewater, and Garbage Systems of the City of Georgetown are hereby established, levied, fixed, and prescribed as follows, ra DOMESTIC USE ELECTRIC RATES First 30 KWH, $5 35 net, (Minimum Bill) 1 86t/KWH for the all additional KWH CHURCH RATE (NON TAXABLE)_ First 30 KWH $5 35 net, (Minimum Bill) 3 14t/KWH for all additional KWH SCHOOL RATE (NON TAXABLE). First 30 KWH $5 35 net, (Minimum Bill) 3 5W KWH for the next 13,970 KWH 2 42t/KWH for all additional KWH INDUSTRIAL RATE Demand Charge $2 75 per Kw of demand Energy_ Charge 1 W KWH for the first 10,000 KWH 1 50/KWH for all additional KWH FUEL COST ADJUSTMENT TOTAL ELECTRIC RATE First 30 KWH, $5 35 net (Minimum Bill) 1 89t/KWH for the next 1970 KWH 1 75t/KWH for all additional KWH COMMERCIAL RATE First 30 KWH, $5 35 net, (Minimum Bill) 5 52V KWH for the next 470 KWH 3 02Q/KWH for all additional KWH LARGE COMMERCIAL First 30 KWH $5 35 net, (Minimum Bill) 4 320 KWH for next 1970 KWH 2 82t/KWH for next 5000 KWH 2 3200H. for all, additional KWH The above energy and demand charges shall be increased by the Fuel Cost Adjustment as computed each month METER RENTAL FEE 10t per meter for each meter B WATER RATES Months Water Use Gallons First 2,000 All over 2,000 Rate per 1,000 Gallons Inside City Outside City Minimum Charge Minimum Charge $0 70 $0 975 N Ct WATER - MINIMUM MONTHLY CHARGE These rates are applicable to all sales or services for the first 2,000 f gallons or less monthly Inside City Outside City ,P2 50 W f 10 00 All leakage between meter and building is the responsibility of the owner, Tenant or occ4Pant of the building SEWER RATES DOMESTIC RATE$ $2 W for four fixtures or less (minimum charge) $0 AO for each additional fixture r COMMERCIAL RATES $3 80 for two fixtures or less (minimum charge) $0 40 for each additional fixture $1 80 for each washrack $1 80 for each extractor One fixture is considered to be a sink, wash basin, commode, bath tub, shower; washing machine outlet, dishwasher, garbage disposalo urinal, drinking fountain, or water softener i Anyone receiving City Water Service and connected to City Sewer must pay the above sower charges regardless of whether the building is occupied or not, E Size Taps Inside City WATER TAP RATES 5/8" or 3/4" $225 00 I" $300 00 plus cost of meter 1-12" $400 00 plus cost of meter 2" $600 00 plus cost of meter above 2" Actual cost of material Outside City $350 00 $425 00 plus cost of meter $525 00 plus cost of meter $725 00 plus cost of meter $125 00 plus actual cost of labor and materials 4G7 Additional $0 20 per sq ft of heated area to be added to above rates for water taps F Size Taps 4 4" 6 819 Above 8" SEWER TAP RATES Inside City $250 00 $400 00 $600 00 Actual cost of labor and materials Outside City $400 00 $550 00 $750 00 $150 00 plus actual cost of labor and materials All Water and Sewer Taps to be paid for at the time of issuance of Building Permit 10, Domestic Rates GARBAGE RATES Inside City - $3 50 per month or any portion thereof Outside City - $5 00 per month or any portion thereof Commercial Rates f Rates vary according to amount of garbage Minimum commercial rate is $4 00 per month or any portion thereof Rates above $4 00 to be set at City Hall by City Secretary Waste from Cleanup or Building Operations $10 00 per load or proportionate charge for partial load if waste is hauled by City. If service is rendered during any portion of any month the customer will be required to pay a minimum bill for this service 468 H PAYMENT AND COLLECTION If the payment is received prior to the tenth of the month following the month in which the service was performed, rendered, or available, or if such payment bears a postmark within Such limit, or received in the overnight depository by 8 00 A M the following day, such payment shall be considered timely and not delinquent When the said tenth day falls on a Sunday or a legal City Holiday such time for payment shall be extended to the next business day When payment is made after the tenth of the month 10% will be added to the next bill Second notices will be sent to all accounts not paid by the tenth of the month I FAILARE TO PAY CHARGES If a third notice is required, utility Service will be discontinued Account balanct plus a $6 00 service charge must be paid before service will be restored The custo- mer will be required to pay the service charge whether utilities have been discon- nected or not SECTION II That there shall be a $50 00 Utility Desposit required on each dwelling unithere shall be no deposit required on any dewlling unit occupied by its owner. All commercial establishments shall be required to post a Utility Deposit equal to at least twice the average monthly bill of that establishment or a similar establishment of its kind The minimum commercial deposit shall be $100 00 SECTION III. That all ordinances resolutions, and orders heretofore passed, adopted and made, or any part of the same, affecting rates, charges and policies for sales made or services rendered by the Electric, Water, Wastewater, or Garbage Systems of the City of Georgetown, Which are in conflict with this Ordinance, shall be and the same are hereby in all things repealed, provided, that those provisions of the Gar- bage and Trash Ordinance passed on the 10th day of March, 1975, as amended on the 8th day of March, 1976, which are not in conflict herewith are not repealed SECTION IV The urgent need for prescribing appropirate adjustments in the rates and charges so that thr revenues derived from the affected accounts will provide additional revenue and Sewer Systems of the City of Georgetown creates an emergency for the immediate preservation of order, health, safety, and general welfare fo the public that requires this Ordinance to become effective from and after the date of its passa as made and provided by the Charter of the City of Goergetown, and it is so ordained READ, PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council on first readingas an emergency at meeting held at the City Hall in the City of Georgetown, this day of,62 1979 ATTEST CITY SECRETARY APPROVED AS TO FORM CITY ATTORNEY JHN C DOERFLER, AYOR C TY OF GEORGETOW
