ORDINANCE NO. 79-36
AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF MAIN STREET
LYING NORTH OF SPRING STREET AND SOUTH OF OLD HIGHWAY 81
(OLD HIGHWAY NO. 2).
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
WHEREAS, a petition has been received from Burla Jean
Gelmour, Kelly E. Hawthorne, and Burle C: Hawthorne
being the owners of adjoining land in Blocks 12 and 19, North
Georgetown Addition of the City of Georgetown, Texas, more
particularly described in field notes shown in "Exhibit A" and
"Exhibit B" attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, the petition states that the portion of Main
Street lying north of Spring Street and South of Old Highway
81 (Old Highway No. 2) between Blocks 12 and 19 of the North
Georgetown Addition of the City of Georgetown has not been in
use by the public for many years and, in fact, iri.,.cations
are that said block has never been graded or improved or
opened to public use; and
WHEREAS, petitioners state that they ov adjoining
properties, being part of Block 12 and Block 19, in the North
Georgetown Addition to the City of Georgetown, being all the
land adjoining the portion of Main Street which is requested
to be vacated and closed, and that it is necessary and de-
sirable that the portion of Main Street be closed and vacated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of
the City of Georgetown, Texas, that the portion of Main
Street north of Spring Street and south of Old Highway
81 (Old Highway No.2) between Blocks 12 and 19, North
Georgetown Addition to the City of Georgetown, more
particularly described in field notes shown in "Exhibit
A" and "Exhibit B" attached hereto, be and the same is
hereby vacated, closed and abandoned, except that the
City of Georgetown reserves for itself or for any
public utility company, the right to maintain, repair
and replace any water, sewer or other utility line
presently located in, upon or over said Block; and
Be it FURTHER ORDAINED, the Mayor of the City of George-
town is hereby authorized and directed to execute a
quitclaim deed on behalf of the said City conveying the
right, title and interest of said City in and to the
said property to Burla Jean Gelmour,� Kelly E. Hawthorne, and
Burle C. Hawthorne

FIELD NOTES FOR THE J. E. ALLMON ESTATE:

BEING the West 30 feet of Main Street between Spring Street and the South
line of Old Highway No. 2 which has never been open or maintained as
as street for public usage. Surveyed on the ground in the month of
March, 1979, by R. T. Magness, Jr., Registered Professional Engineer,
and being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at an iron pin set at the intersection of the North line of
Spring Street and the West line of Main Street marking the S.E. corner
of Block 19, North Georgetown Addition, City of Georgetown, Williamson
County, Texas, for the S.W. corner hereof;
THENCE North 60.65 feet with said West line of Main Street, also being
the East line of said Block 19, to an iron pin set in the said South
line of Old Highway No. 2, for the N.W. corner hereof;
THENCE N 43° 09' E, 43.87 feet with said South line of Old Highway No. 2
to an iron pin set on the centerline of said Main Street, for the N.E.
corner hereof;
