HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 78-29 - Utilities Rates9159�9 .ORDINANCE NO. 78-29 AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING AND FIXING RATES AND CHARGES FOR SALES AND SERVICES OF ELECTRIC, WATER, WASTEWATER, AND GARBAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN; PRESCRIBING THE TIME FOR PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS AND PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT; SETTING DEPOSITS FOR UTILITIES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS, AND ORDERS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: SECTION I. The monthly rates and charges for the sales made of services_rendered by the Electric, Water, Wastewater, and Garbage Systems of the City of Georgetown are hereby established, levied, fixed, and prescribed as follows: A. ELECTRIC RATES DOMESTIC USE TOTAL ELECTRIC RATE First 15 KWH,'$1.142 net, (Minimum Bill) First 200 KWE;-$5.60 net,(Min. Bill) 5.83¢/KWH for the next 35 KWH 2.620A'WH for the next 300 KWH .30AWH for 43¢/KWH the next 0 KWH 1.38¢/KWH for the next 1000 KWH 2, for the next 110 KWH 122¢AWH for the next 2000 KWH 2.030/KWH for the next 100 KWH 1:320AWH for all additional KWH 1:430AWH for the all additional KWH CHURCH RATE (NON TAXABLE) COMMERCIAL RATE First 30 KWH, $1.68 net (Minimum Bill) First 15 KWH, $1.142 net, 3.130/KWH for all additional KWH (Minimum Bill) 5.13¢/KWH for the next 1485 KWH 2.63¢/'KWH for all additional KWH SCHOOL RATE (NON TAXABLE LARGE COMMERCIAL First 200 KWH $x,50 net. (Minimum Bill) 3.930/KWH for the first 2000-KWH 3.93¢/KWH for the next 3800 KWH 2.1430AWH for the next 5000 KWH /KW 3.13¢H for the next !}000 KWH 1.930ANH for all additional KWH 2.63¢/KWH for the next 6000 KWH (No more customers on this rate) 2.03¢/KWH for all additional KWH INDUSTRIAL RATE Demand Charge $2.00 per KW of demand Energy Charge 1.370AI H for the first 10,000 KWH 1.1¢/KWH for the next 140,000 KWH 1.00AWH for all additional KWH FUEL COST ADJUSTMENT The above energy and demand charges shall be increased by the Fuel Cost Adjustment as computed each month. METER RENTAL FEE 100 per meter for each meter. B. WATER RATES Monthly Water Use Rate per 1,000 Gallons Gallons Inside City Outside City First 3,000 Minimum Charge Minimum Charge Next 7,000 0.60 All over 10,000 10.70 C. WATER - MINIMUM MONTHLY CHARGE These rates are applicable to all sales or service for the first 3,000 gallons or less monthly. $2.50 $10.00 All leakage between meter and building is the responsibility of the owner, Tenant, or occupant of the building. SaTER RATES DOMESTIC RATES 1.80 for four fi-xtures or less (minimum charge) 0.40 for each additional fixture COMMERCIAL RATES 1.80 for two fixtures or less (minimum charge) 0.40 for each additional fixture 1.80 f )r each washrack 1.80 fir each extractor One fixture is considered to be a sink, wash basin, commode, bath tub, shower, washing machine outlet, dishwasher, garbage disposal, urinal, drinking fountain, or water softener. Anyone receiving City Water Service and connected to City Sewer must pay the above sewer charges regardless of whether the building is occupied or not. 0.90 .975 E. Domestic Rates GARBAGE RATES Inside City - $2.50 per month or any portion thereof. Outside City -•-$4.00 per month or any portion thereof. Commercial Rates Rates 'vary according to amount of garbage. Minimum commercial rate is $4.00 per month Rates above $4.00 to be set at City Hall by Waste from Cleanup or Building Operations or any portion thereof City Secretary. $10.00 per load or proportionate charge for partial load if waste is hauled by City. If service is rendered during any portion of any month the customer will be required to pay a minimum bill for this service. H. PAYMENT AND COLLECTION If the payment is received prior to the tenth of the month following the month in which the service was performed, rendered, or available, or if such payment bears a postmark within such lim't, or received in the overnight depository by 8:00 A.M. the following day, such payment shall -be considered timely and not delinquent. When the said tenth day falls on a Sunday or a legal City Holiday such t me for payment shall be extended to the next business daffy. When payment is made after the tenth of the mont1l 10;0 will be added to the next bill. Second notices will be sent to all accounts not paid by the tenth of month.' I. FAILURE TO PAY CHARGES If a third notice is required, utility Service will be discontinued. Account balance plus a $6.00 service charge must be paid before service will be restored. The customer will be required to pay the service charge whether utilities have been d'.sconnected or not. SECTION II. That there shall be a $50.00 Utility Deposit requ'red on each dwelling unit. There shall be no deposit required on any dwelling unit occupied by Its owner. All commercial establishments shall be required to post a Ut*,.l'ty Deposit equal to at least twice the average monthly bill of that establishment or a similar establishment of i.ts nd. The minimum commercial deposit shall be $100.00. SECTION III That all ordinances. resolutions, and orders heretofore passed, adopted and made, or any part of the sane, affecting rates, charges and poli_ci.es for sales made or serv'ces rendered by the Electric, Water, Wastewater, or Garbage Systems of the City of Georgetown.. Which are in conflict w th this Ordinance, shall be and the same are hereby in all things repealed, provided, that those provisions of the Garbage and Trash Ordinance passed on the 10th day of March, 1975, as amended on the 8th day of March, 1976, which are not in conflict herewith are not repealed. SECTION IV. The urgent need for prescribing appropriate a ustments in the rates and charges so that the revenues derived from the affected accounts will provide additional revenue and Sewer Systems of the City of Georgetown creates an emergency for the immediate preservation of order, health, safety, and general welfare of the public that requires this Ordinance to become effective from and after the date of its passage as made and provided by the Charter of the City of Georgetown, and it is so ordained. 262 READ, PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council on first reading at a meeting held at the City Hall in the City of Georgetown, this 10th dcy of Oct. 1978.
