ORDINANCE NO. 77-19
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A POLICE RESERVE FORCE: PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT, POWERS AND DUTIES OF RESERVE POLICEMEN: ESTABLISHING
STANDARDS OF QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING: PROVIDING FOR COMPEN-
SATION AND EQUIPMENT:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1. There is hereby established a Police Reserve Force for the City of Georgetown,
Texas, to consist of not more than ten (10) members.
Section 2. Members of the Police Reserve Force shall be appointed and/or relieved at
the discretion of the Chief of Police and shall serve as Police Officers during the actual
discharge of official duties.
Section 3. Members of the Police Reserve Force shall serve at the discretion of the
Chief of Po ice and maybe called into service at anytime the Chief of Police considers it
necessary to have additional Police Officers to preserve the Peace and enforce the Law
and while on active duty shall have the same authority, duties, and responsibilities as a
regular Police Officer.
Section 4. Members of the Police Reserve Force shall meet the qualifications and
standards of training required for reserve officers established by the Texas Commission on
Law Enforcement Standards and Education and such additional physical, mental, educational
and moral standards as may be established by the Chief of Police.
Section 5. Members of the Police Reserve Force shall serve without compensation except:
. The City of Georgetown may provide hospital and medical assistance to Reserve
Officers who sustain injury in the course of performing official duties in the same manner as
provided for regular Police Officers.
2. Reserve Officers may be compensated at the same rate as regular Police Officers
for certain duty assignments authorized by the Chief of Police.
Section 6. Members of the Police Reserve Force shall supply their own equipment
and uniforms except:
1. The City of Georgetown will furnish a badge and identification.
2. The City of Georgetown may provide uniforms and/or uniform compensation.
3. The City of Georgetown may furnish certai n special equipment.
Passed on the first reading on the 13th day of September, 1977, and passed on the
second reading on the 11 th day of October, 1977.
