ORDINANCE NO. 77-13
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS FIXING THE RATE
OF SPEED FOR ALL VEHICLES USING ANY ROADS LOCATED WITHIN SAN
GABRIEL PARK, GEORGETOWN, WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS: DEFINING
SPEEDING: AND FIXING PENALTY THEREFORE: WITH SAVINGS DECLARING
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY_THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN:
SECTION I.
It is hereby determined upon the basis of traffic investigation that the prima facie maximum
speed limit on al roads, streets, highways located within San Gabriel Park, Georgetown,
Williamson County, Texas, at all times, shall be twenty (20) miles per hour for all traffic.
SECTION II.
That all of the streets, roads and highways located within said San Gabriel Park are hereby
delcared to be public streets and the operating of any vehicle thereon at a rate of speed in
excess of twenty (20) miles per hour, as fixed by this ordinance, shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and that such offense shall be punishable by a fine of not exceeding two hundred
dollars.
SECTION III.
The effective date of this ordinance shall be the 20th day of June, 1977, and prior to such dale
the City Secretary shall cause to be published in a newspaper of general circulation within
said City of Georgetown notice of the passage of this ordinance as required by law and prior
to such date the Chief of Police of said city shall cause to be erected signs properly indicating
the entrance into said park at allsuch entrances and other appropriate signs outside and inside
such area reflecting such maximum speed of twenty (20) miles per hour.
SECTION IV.
That should any section or any portion of any section hereof be decreed to be void, the
invalidity of such section or such section or such portion thereof shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and that each section and each portion thereof
not decreed to be invalid shall remain valid and enforceable.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances that are in conflict with this ordinance are
hereby repealed.
That the fact that prompt action should be taken in the regulation of traffic, on the streets
in San Gabriel Park, in the manner provided for in this ordinance creates an emergency re-
quiring that the rules that provide that an ordinance shall be read at two separate meetings
of the City Council before final passage, be suspended; and that the said rules are hereby
suspended, and this ordinance is here and now passed, and that it is ordered that it take effect
from and after is passage and publication on the 20th day of June, 1977.
