ORDINANCE NO. 77-11
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE OWNERS OF ALL BUILDINGS IN THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN AND ALL BUILDINGS OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS RECEIVING
CITY UTILITIES TO NUMBER SUCH BUILDINGS; NAMING THE OFFICIAL TO
ASSIGN THE NUMBERS; SETTING A TIME LIMIT FOR THE PLACEMENT OF
NUMBERS ON THE BUILDINGS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN:
SECTION 1. It shall be the duty of the owners of all dwellings, apartment houses,
hotels, commercial establishments and other buildings receiving city of Georgetown
utilities to number such buildings with numberals at least three inches high in colors
contrasting with the background in such manner and location as to be plainly visible from
the street.
SECTION 2. The City Tax Collector shall be the official designated to allot
numbers to buiIJiT9S and lots.
SECTION 3. Numbers shall be placed in accordance with Section 1 within
thirty days from the time said owners or agents are notified either by mail, publication,
or telephone.
SECTION 4. Violation of this ordinance by owners of buildings receiving City
Utilities outside of the City Limits of the City of Georgetown shall cause immediate
disconnect of City Utilities.
SECTION 5., Violation of this ordinance by owners of buildings inside the City
Limits of Georgetown shall be punishable by discontinuance of City Utilities or a fine
of not less than $25.00 nor more than $200.00.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon
its final passage and publication.
PASSED on the first reading this 10th day of May, 1977, by a unanimous vote of
all members of the council.
PASSED on the second and final reading this 23rd. day of May, 1977, by an unaimous
vote of all members of the council.
