AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING AND FIXING RATES AND CHARGES FOR SALES
AND SERVICES OF ELECTRIC, WATER, WASTEWATER, AND GARBAGE DISPOSAL
SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN: PRESCRIBING THE TIME FOR PAY-
MENT OF ACCOUNTS AND PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT: SETTING DE-
POSITS FOR UTILITIES: REPEALING ALL ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, AND ORDERS
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The monthly rates and charges for the sales made oe services rendered
by the Electric, Water, Wastewater, and Garbage Systems of the City of Georgetown
are hereby established, levied, fixed, and prescribed as follows:
A. ELECTRIC RATES:
DOMESTIC USE
First 15 KWH, $1.27 net, (minimum bill)
5.7�/KWH for the next 35 KWH
4.4�/KWH for the next 40 KWH
2.3�/KWH for the next 110 KWH
1.9�/KWH for the next 100 KWH
1.3t for all additional KWH
CHURCH RATE (NON TAXABLE)
First 30 KWH, $1.50 net, (minimum bill)

The above energy and demand charges shall be increased by the Fuel Cost Adjustment as
computed each month.

All leakage between meter,and building is the responsibility of the owner, tenant, or occupant
of the building.
D. SEWER RATES
DOMESTIC RATES
$1.80 for four fixtures or less (minimum charge)
$0.40 for each additional fixture
COMMERCIAL RATES
$1.80 for two fixtures or less (minimum charge)
$0.40 for each additional fixture
$1.80 for each washrack
$1.80 for each extractor
One fixture is considered to be o sink, wash basin, commode, bath tub, shower, washing machine
outlet, dishwasher, garbage disposal, urinal, drinking fountain, or water softener.
Anyone receiving City Water Service and connected to City Sewer must pay the above sewer
charges regardless of whether the building is occupied or not.

Commercial Rates
Rates vary according to amount of garbage. Minimum commercial rate is $4.00 per month
or any portion thereof. Rates above $4.00 to be set at City Hall by City Secretary.
Waste from Cleanup or Building Operations
$10.00 per load or proportionate charge for partial load if waste is hauled by city.
If service is rendered during any portion of any month the customer will be required to pay
a minimum bill for this service.
H. PAYMENT AND COLLECTION
If the payment is received prior to the tenth of the month following the month in which the
service was performed, rendered, or available, or if such payment bears a postmark within
such limit, or received in the overnight depository by 8:00 A.M. the following day, such
payment shall be considered timely and not delinquent. When the said tenth day falls
on a Sunday or a legal city holidy such time for payment shall be extended to the next
business day. When payment is made after the tenth of the month 10% will be added
to the net bill. Second notices will be sent to all accounts not paid by the tenth of month.
I. FAILURE TO PAY CHARGES
If a third notice is required, utility service will be discontinued. Account balance plus a
$6.00 service charge must be paid before service will be restored. The customer will be
required to pay the service charge whether utilities have been disconnected or not.
_SECTION II. That there shall be a $25.00 Utility Deposit required on each dwelling unit.
There s hal no deposit required on any dwelling unit occupied by its owner.
All commercial establishments shall be required to post a Utility Deposit equal to at least
twice the average monthly bill of that establishment or a similar establishment of its
kind. The minimum commercial deposit shall be $50.00.
SECTION III. That all ordinances, resolutions, and orders heretofore passed, adopted
and made, or any part of the same, affecting rates, charges and policies for sales made
or services rendered by the Electric, Water, Wastewater, or garbage systems of the City
of Georgetown, which are in conflict with this Ordinance, shall be and the same are
hereby in all things repealed, provided, that those provisions of the Garbage and Trash
Ordinance passed on the 10th day of March 1975, as amended on the 8th day of March, 1976,
which are not in conflict herewith are not repealed.
SECTION IV. The urgent need for prescribing appropriate adjustments in the rates and
charges so t at the revenues derived from the affected accounts will provide additional
revenue for the urgent needs of improvements in the Water and Sewer Systems of the City
of Georgetown creates an emergency for the immediate preservation of order, health,
safety, and general welfare of the public that requires this Ordinance to become effective
from and after the date of its passage as made and provided by the Charter of the City
of Georgetown, and it is so ordained.
READ, PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council on first reading as an emergency
at a meeting held at the City Hall in the City of Georgetown, this 8th day of February
1977.
