HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 75-22 - Abandon West 3rd Street0 U ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF WEST THIRD STREET IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, AS SET FORTH AND DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A" HERETO ATTACHED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, and Jessie Lee Tanksley, with respect to certain pro- perties situated;in the Urban Renewal Project, South San Gabriel, Texas R-102; and WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown and Jessie Lee Tanksley are the sole owners of that portion of Block 17 of the original - Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, which adjoins on the south that cortion of West Third Street described in Exhibit "A" hereto attached; and WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown calls for the property owned by said Jessie Lee Tanksley be to developed along with a portion of the property described in Exhibit "A" hereto attached, and said Jessie Lee Tanksley has entered into a Redevelopment Contract with said Agency for the redevelopment of Lot 1, Block 17 of said Original Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, of which she is the owner, and in order for her to proceed with such redevelopment, it is necessary that such portion of West Third Street be vacated and abandoned; now therefore be it ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, that the portion of West Third Street described in Exhibit "A" hereto attached, be and the some is hereby vacated, closed and abandoned. and, WHEREAS, in order to avoid a thirty days' delay in the redevelopment by said Jessie Lee Tanksley of her property, it is declared that there is an emergency for this Ordinance to be passed on First Reading, and the some is so passed on First Reading, the Second Reading being dispensed with for the reasons set forth herein. Street between the West margin of Timber Street and the East margin of West Street. BEING a 30 foot wide strip of land off of the South margin of 3rd Street between the West margin of Timber Street and the East margin of West Street, in the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, according to the official map thereof and being more particularily described as follows. BEGINNING at the Northeast corner of Block 17 in the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, said point being where the South margin of 3rd Street intersects the West margin of Timber Street; THENCE West, 240.00 feet along the North boundary line of Block 17 and the South margin of 3rd Street to the Northwest corner of Block 17, said point being on the East margin of West Street; THENCE North, 30.00 feet to a point; THENCE East, 240.00 feet with the center line of 3rd street to a point on the West margin of Timber Street, THENCE South, 30.00 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING and containing 7,200 square feet.
