HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 75-15 - Landscapinga� 7S .'� AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE INSTALLATION OF ANY LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION SYSTEM INCLUDING ALTERATIONS, REPAIRS, REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT, FIXTURES, FITTINGS AND/OR APPURTENANCES THERETO IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS OR ADJACENT AREAS CONNECTED TO THE CITY WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM; TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREOF. REQUIRING PERSONS PERFORMING WORK OF LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS TO BE LICENSED LANDSCAPE IRRIGATORS AS REQUIRED BY STATE LAW AND TO BE BONDED FOR THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, as follows: Section 1. The Standard Plumbing Code, 1975 Edition, three copies of which are on file in the offices of the City Clerk, and previously adopted by reference by Ordinance passed on September 8, 1975, is the regulating ordinance for Landscape Irrigation Systems connected to the City of Georgetown, Texas public water supply. Section 2. Persons selling, installing, altering, repairing or replacing equipment, fixtures, fittings or appurtenances thereto must show evidence that they are Licensed Landscape Irrigators as required by Texas Law (Senate Bill 237, Article 249c, V.T.C.S., Chapter 457, Acts of the 61st Legislature, Regular Session). Section 3. Persons performing work authorized.by this Ordinance must first obtain a plumbing permit as prescribed by the City Plumbing Code, post a one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) performance bond naming the City of Georgetown, Texas. Section 4. No landscape irrigation system shall be activated until all required plumbing inspections have been made and passed. Section 5. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be held invalid for any reason, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected thereby but shall remain in full force and effect. Section 6. Any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions contained herein are hereby repealed. Section 7. It is found as a matter of fact that an emergency exists and that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of public health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the City of Georgetown, that this Ordinance be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required in the State Statutes.
