April 23rd,1890, Town Council met in regular meeting in Council Room with the following members present: Mayor W.Y.Penn and the full Board of Aldermen, viz J.L.Brit- tain, George Irvine, J.R.Roberts and J,W,Whittle; The council was duly called to order when the following business was transacted and proceedings had, viz: - x x x The following resolutions were presented by Aldermen J.L. 4 Brittain and seconded by Alderman George Irvine, viz: BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of George. town, at the regular meeting thereof, held this April 23rd, 1890,that the provisions of Title Seventeen of the Revised Statutes of Texas and the Amendments thereto made from time to time heretofore by the Legislature of said State in reference to Cities and towns be accepted in lieu of the existing charter of this town approved March 8th, 1871, and this town be hereafter known as the City of Georgetown, and that the said provisions of Title seventeen and amendments thereto in refer- ence to cities and towns be accepted as the charter of said city with it limits as set out in said special charter of said town, to -wit: - BEGINNING at a stake that is one-half mile due east from the center of the court house (as it then stood). Thence due south one. half mile; Thence due west one mile to a stake for the southwest corner of this corporation; Thence due north to the middle of the channel of the south San Gabriel. Thence down the same with its meanders to a . a point that a line due south would strike the place of beginning;.Thence due south to the place of beginning. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the foregoing resolutions be entered`&n, the Journal of the proceedings of said Town Council and that a copy ofti%same signed by the Mayor and attested by the Secretary under the corporate seal of said town of Georgetown be filed and recorded in the office of the Clerk of the County Court of Williamson iR wig C'eto jE "4#ppr'MN `Iy `t County asrequired by the Act of the Legislature of the State of Texas, approved Larch 27th, 1885, And said resolutions being read and fully understood the ayes and nays were taken on the adoption of the same, when the follow- ing members of the Town Council of the town of Georgetown voted in favor of the adoption of said Resolutions, viz:- Mayor W.Y.Penn and Alderman J.L.Brittain, George Irvine, J.R.Roberts and J.W.Whittle, whereupon it was declared that said resolutions had been adopted by the unanimous vote of the council. THE STATE OF TEXAS, COUNTY OF WILLIA?ISON, I, W.Y.Penn, Mayor of the town of Georgetown. in said County and State, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolutions presented and adopted by the town council of the town of Georgetown at their regular meeting held on the 23rd day of April, A.D.18901 by the unanimous vote of said Council upon call of the ayes and nays as shorn, and that the same together with the action of said council in adopting the same was entered upon the journal of the proceedings of said Town Council as required by law.
