Wednesday, May 16, 2017
The Georgetown City Council will meet on Wednesday, May 16, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Council Chambers at 101
E. Th St., Georgetown, Texas
The city of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you

Mayor Ross called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Regular Session
(This Regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by
the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.)
A. Call to Order —A Special Meeting of the City Council
- CANVASS of May 6, 2017 GENERAL ELECTION AND SWEARING IN CEREMONY
B. Discussion and possible action to approve a Resolution canvassing the votes of the May 6, 2017 General
Election, declaring the results to be official — Shelley Nowling, City Secretary
Shelley Nowling, City Secretary announced that the Mayor and Councilmembers had been provided copies of the
final tabulation of the results of the General Election held May 6, 2017 from the Williamson County Elections
office. She read the results of the election. For the position of Mayor, Dale Ross received 3,442 votes and
Sherwin Kahn received 1,323 votes. For the position of Councilmember District 2, Valerie Nicholson received
389 votes and David Sray received 337 votes. For the position of Councilmember District 6, Rachael Jonrowe
received 400 votes and Lawrence Romero received 128 votes. Nowling said that Council approval of the
proposed resolution would declare the results to be true and accurate.
Motion by Gonzalez, second Fought, to approve the Canvass Resolution.
Approved: 7-0
C. Presentation of appreciation to outgoing Council Member, District 2, Keith Brainard — Mayor Dale Ross
Mayor Ross presented Councilmember Brainard with a plaque of appreciation for his contribution to the City of
Georgetown.
D. Comments from outgoing District 2 Council Member, Keith Brainard — Mayor Dale Ross
Councilmember Brainard spoke on the special City that Georgetown is and spoke on being grateful for his time
served on the City Council.
E. Swearing in of Council Member District 2, Valerie Nicholson — Shelley Nowling, City Secretary
Nowling introduced Judge Bill Gravel, who administered the Oath of Office for Councilmember Nicholson
F. Comments from newly elected District 2 Council Member, Valerie Nicholson — Mayor Dale Ross
Nicholson thanked friends and family and spoke on her appreciation for the opportunity to serve her community.
G. Swearing in of reelected Council Member District 6, Rachael Jonrowe — Shelley Nowling, City Secretary
Nowling administered the Oath of Office for reelected Councilmember District 6, Rachael Jonrowe.
H. Comments from reelected District 6 Council Member, Rachael Jonrowe — Mayor Dale Ross
Councilmember Jonrowe spoke on her sincerety to serve her district and constituents. She thanked her
supporters and her family and spoke on topics that need attention in the City.
I. Swearing in of reelected Mayor, Dale Ross — Shelley Nowling, City Secretary
Nowling introduced the honorable Judge John McMaster who administered the Oath of Office for reelected Mayor,
Dale Ross.
J. Comments from reelected Mayor, Dale Ross — Mayor Dale Ross
Mayor Ross complimented the City Council and staff and spoke on accomplishments of the City in the past three
years. Ross thanked his supporters and wife and said that he looking forward to the next three years.
K. Presentation of appreciation to outgoing Mayor Pro Tem, Steve Fought— Mayor Dale Ross
Mayor Ross presented Mayor Pro Tem, Steve Fought, with an appreciation plaque for his service as the Mayor
Pro Tem.
L. Comments from outgoing Mayor Pro Tem, Steve Fought — Mayor Dale Ross
Mayor Pro Tem, Steve Fought, said that he was honored to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem and thanked the Council
for their confidence and courtesy in electing him.
M. Consideration of election from the dais of a Mayor Pro Tem — Mayor Dale Ross
Motion by Fought, second by Jonrowe to elect Councilmember Anna Eby as the next Mayor Pro Tem.
N. Swearing in of Mayor Pro Tem — Shelley Nowling, City Secretary
Nowling administered the Oath of Office to the new Mayor Pro Tem, Anna Eby.
O. Comments from incoming Mayor Pro Tem — Mayor Dale Ross
Newly appointed Mayor Pro Tem, Anna Eby thanked the Council for electing her the Mayor Pro Tem and said she
looks forward to serving.
Adjournment
Motion by Eby, second by Fought to adjourn the meeting. Mayor Ross adjourned the meeting at 6:40 PM.
