Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the
City of Georgetown, Texas
March 17, 2016

Members Present:: Kelly Thyssen (Chairperson), Susanne Paclebar, Micki Rundell, Michael
Simpson (Secretary), Mary Treuter, Anna Eby (Council woman) and Lyle Warden DVM
Staff Present: Jackie Carey
Meeting called to order at 6:04pm by Kelly Thyssen (Chair).
Regular Session
(This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive
Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government
Code 551.)
1.Citizens comments — none
2. Introduction of new advisory board members - K Thyssen
Nomination for Vice Chairperson Mary Treuter and Secretary Mike Simpson were
accepted and approved.
3. Introduction of City Manager, David Morgan - K Thyssen - his visit was
postponed.
4. Consideration and approval of minutes from February 2016 meeting - M Simpson
Motion to approve minutes of February 18 meeting, as amended, made by Anna Eby,
seconded by Dr. Lyle Warden, passed by unanimous vote.
5. Presentation of animal services statistical and analytical report for February 2016
- J Carey
No major fluctuations of intake and adoptions. No kill shelter status achieved for both
dogs and cats.
6. Discussion and possible action about presentation for workshop with City Council
- J Carey
The Animal Shelter workshop to city council has been rescheduled to May 10, 2016.
The Phase 1 Needs Assessment of the Animal Shelter Master Plan should be complete
in time to summarize for the council members.
The city staff videographer is continuing preparation of video clip for public awareness of
animal shelter.
A copy of the 2011 Council Workshop was made available for review and will be
updated for the 2016 workshop. Additional topics to include 1) No Kill Shelter status
achievement, 2) Inevitable Growth in Demand for Services, 3) Kennel Usage Statistics,
and 4) Volunteers' Contributions.
Motion to adjourn made by Micki, second by Mary, passed by unanimous vote.
