Job Title: Electric Planner/Scheduler Effective Date: December 28, 2015

SUMMARY: Position is the first and primary point of contact for Engineering, Control Center and Customer Care to
schedule work for Electric Operations, Technical Services and Field Staff. All work will be scheduled and documented in
the scheduling system and the Planner/Scheduler is responsible for timely scheduling of all work, working with the Electric
Operation Supervisors regarding scheduling, available resource hours ect. The position is also responsible for scheduling
work to meet or exceed customer deadlines while at the same time ensuring Electric Operations also has the appropriate
lead time to complete and meet all expectations.

the following, and may include other duties as assigned:
Coordination/scheduling of corrective and preventive maintenance, construction projects using in house staff as well as
scheduling new service installations.
Assures that the Electric Operation Supervisors are aware of the schedule, priority work in the schedule and that job packets
are available in case a Supervisor needs to conduct a field visit to the location prior to the arrival of the crew.
Utilizes the software to schedule all work, updates information to the schedule after all job scheduling meetings.
Attends all job scheduling meetings, documents all changes and ensures all changes are updated timely in the work
management system.
Serves as a liaison for Electric Operations between Engineering, Control Center and Customer Care.
Communicates status of the schedule, work scheduled, volume of new work/request, work moved out of the current week, and
hours booked verse hours of resources available for current week and following weeks.
Creates, maintains and updates all information related to scheduling of Electric Operations resources in the system.
Assists in reviewing with the Electric Operation Supervisors work scheduled for construction to compare actual to estimated
labor hours for self-evaluation and to determine if possible adjustments are required.
Performs services to Electric Operations/Maintenance/Construction group during major system outages and other duties as
assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience
Associate’s degree in Construction Management or closely related field from an accredited curriculum and four (4) years
of full-time construction experience in an electric distribution utility or its contractor with progression to lead level or as an
electric project planner. OR Additional education may substitute for experience up to 4 years.
Knowledge of:
Basic electric system construction and design.

Construction job estimation.
Project management and scheduling.
Electrical distribution construction techniques, practices and procedures.
City ordinances, policies and procedures
NESC, NEC and OSHA codes
Effective customer service principles and practices.
Local environmental requirements for construction and maintenance activities.
Skill in:
Using computers and related software
Lead and directing a workforce
Following electrical safety procedures.
Communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Data analysis and problem solving.
Using computer and related software programs.
Writing work orders, timesheets, support documents for Electric Operations.
Performing basic mathematical calculations.
Problem solving technical, safety, and construction issues.
Managing construction schedules, adapting for unforeseen issues and creative problem solving.
Time management and multi-task functions
Reading blueprints, specifications, warning label, etc.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision,
hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
Temperature extremes from weather and engines; dust; loud noise from worksites; creosote burns; proximity to live
electric lines; occasional dogs and insects; uneven terrains; exposure to poison oak, ivy and sumac; entry into confined
spaces.
