ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

MINUTES - DRAFT
Members present: Kelly Thyssen (Chairperson), Anna Eby (Council woman), Susanne
Paclebar, Michael Simpson (Secretary), and Lyle Warden DVM
Staff present: Jackie Carey and Shawn Gunnin
Absent: Andrea Brown
Meeting called to order at 6:12pm by Kelly Thyssen.
1. Citizen’s comments – Four (4) guests attended this meeting; two Boy Scouts and
parents. Dillon and Ryan are working on the communications badge criteria.
2. Motion to approve minutes of Oct 15, 2015 meeting, as amended, made by Mike
Simpson, seconded by Anna Eby. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
3. Presentation of animal services statistical and analytical report for past fiscal year period
(October 2014 – September 2015) was made by Jackie Carey. The Animal Shelter
achieved No Kill status for the entire annual period for both dogs and cats. Nearly 2,000
dogs and cats were serviced in shelter and 391 were serviced in public clinics outside
the shelter. These services were both spay and neuter, vaccination and microchip
services. A public announcement draft was reviewed. Discussion included possible
adding statistical summary to the minutes of these meetings.
4. Discussion about Master Plan for animal shelter. Jackie Carey reported that the initial
bid package was withdrawn due to concerns of the third phase. The Request For
Proposal (RFP) package has been reissued for the first two phases only.
5. Discussion regarding cancelling the December 2015 meeting of this Board. Motion to
cancel was meeting made by Mike Simpson, second by Anna Eby. Motion passed.
6. Discussion regarding creating a video to present to City Council as part of public
education about the Georgetown Animal Shelter. Jackie Carey reported the following
plans.
The city staff now includes a videographer, who has been given an outline of central
theme and specific messages to be conveyed in the video. Target dates for Advisory
Board review in the February 2016 meeting as preparation for a tentative workshop with
the City Council on March 8, 2016.
7. Motion to adjourn made by Lyle Warden, second by Anna Eby, passed by unanimous
vote.
