ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

MINUTES - DRAFT
Members present: Kelly Thyssen (Chairperson) Andrea Brown, Jack Garey (Vice-Chairperson),
Anna Eby (Council woman), Susanne Paclebar, Michael Simpson (Secretary), and Lyle Warden
DVM
Staff present: Jackie Carey and Shawn Gunnin
Absent: none
Meeting called to order at 6:00pm by Kelly Thyssen.
1. Citizen’s comments – none
2. Motion to approve minutes of May 21 meeting made by Mike Simpson, seconded by
Susan Paclebar, passed by unanimous vote.
3. Presentation of animal services statistical and analytical report for May 2015 by Jacky
Carey. The Animal Shelter achieved No Kill status for the month of May 2015. Austin
Pets Alive routinely take ferrel cats for Barn Cat Program, which has been great success
and important for the live outtake statistics.
4. Discussion regarding available money for shelter Master Plan updated by Anna Eby
No Actions
5. Discussion regarding researching the addition of grief counseling services to the list of
services that the shelter provides. Kelly Thyssen.
Jackie Carey read the comments on this topic from Animal Control Supervisor Max
Mixson and his prior experience at Beaumont.
Members volunteered to contact Dallas SPCA, Koy Clinic, and Castlerock Animal
Hospital to determine how they handle grief counseling needs.
6. Discussion regarding the creation of collateral for introduction of the City of Georgetown
Animal Shelter to city staff and the public lead by Michael Simpson. Initial draft of past
and current presentations and statistical summary information was review with group.
Additional photos have been taken of the Animal Shelter facility. No Motion made this
meeting.
7. Motion to cancel July and August meeting was made by Susanne Paclebar, second by
Kelly Thyssen. Regular meeting will resume in September.
8. Motion to adjourn made by Michael Simpson, second by Lyle Warden, passed by
unanimous vote.
