HomeMy WebLinkAboutAssociate Electrical Project CoordinatorPage 1 of 2 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Associate Electric Project Coordinator Effective Date: FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Revision Date: SUMMARY: Position is the first and primary point of contact for new customers requiring electric service to ensure that all projects for new service delivery are designed and estimated correctly, in accordance to standards and meet or exceed customer deadlines; completes request for corrective maintenance projects and the coordination of them through construction completion and asset database or mapping updates. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following, and may include other duties as assigned:  Assists Project Coordinators with design, customer coordination and quality control for new service delivery projects to single residential lots, single point of service customers with calculated loads less than 100 kW and small corrective maintenance projects  Provides assistance in construction staking and verification, construction accuracy and adherence to construction specifications, locating foreign utilities as required, and providing documentation and as-built auditing of projects in appropriate systems.  Utilizes design software for initial cost estimation, billing of material, designing sketches and initiating spot orders for long lead material items. Initiates invoicing for customer charges, contracts for service delivery and ensures all fees are paid in conjunction with project.  Attends development and pre-application meetings as required for these types of projects for the primary goal of fact- finding customer needs, initial review of proposed site plans, gathers or requests additional information for design and communicates other needs or development responses utilizing My Permit Now.  Serves as a liaison between customers and internal departments by working directly with customers to communicate both the needs of the customer and City for seamless flow of projects and to provide assistance and ensure project deadlines are met  Communicates contract terms and customer fees for service delivery by formulating customer invoicing into proper format with payment status updates to group.  Prepares job packages for field construction utilizing design software, ensures as-build changes are incorporated when jobs are posted to the engineering model and performs GPS duties as required for electric system mapping updates and maintains files, updates mapping and records as required.  Assures that street light additions, modifications or deletions are properly reported to Customer Care for proper billing.  Responds to customer requests for investigations of system mechanical issues other than power quality, and prepares corrective work orders or construction projects to correct field issues as reported by Electric Operations.  Creates, maintains and updates files in the shared network project folder through all steps of service delivery and communicates with designated staff on availability of upcoming projects for scheduling.  Assists in reviewing projects following construction to compare actual to estimated labor and material cost for self-evaluation and to determine if possible adjustments or amendments are required with the electronic estimating system. Page 2 of 2  Reviews requests for new contacts, verifies pole count records, performs pre-evaluation check for joint attachments with telecommunication companies, if make ready required prepares engineering estimates for work and initiates invoicing for make ready to lessee and performs post inspection of telecommunication installations for adherence to standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience High School diploma or equivalent. Four (4) years of full-time construction experience in an electric distribution utility or its contractor with progression to lead level or as an electric project designer. OR Additional education may substitute for experience up to 4 years. Knowledge of:  Basic electric system construction and design.  Construction job estimation.  Project management and scheduling.  Electrical distribution construction techniques, practices and procedures.  City ordinances, policies and procedures  NESC, NEC and OSHA codes  Electric system design using construction units.  Effective customer service principles and practices.  Transmission and Distribution construction and design standards.  Local environmental requirements for construction and maintenance activities. Skill in:  Using computers and related software  Following electrical safety procedures.  Communicating effectively, orally and in writing.  Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.  Data analysis and problem solving.  Reading electrical hazard warnings and procedure manuals.  Writing work orders, timesheets, support documents for Electric Engineering and Asset Manager.  Performing basic mathematical calculations related to electric service and electric systems.  Electric distribution design methodology and electronic design software  Interpreting symbology, connectivity and status.  Problem solving technical, safety, and construction issues.  Feeder switching, sectionalization, load balancing, lock-out/tag-out and emergency operation procedures for electric systems.  Managing construction schedules, adapting for unforeseen issues and creative problem solving.  Time management and multi-task functions  Performing field inspections and writing inspection reports.  Reading blueprints, specifications, warning label, etc.  Interpreting policies, procedures, contract documents, laws, regulations, etc.. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Class C Texas driver’s license PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls. Temperature extremes from weather and engines; dust; loud noise from worksites; creosote burns; proximity to live electric lines; occasional dogs and insects; uneven terrains; exposure to poison oak, ivy and sumac; entry into confined spaces.
