Job Title: Systems Engineering Associate

SUMMARY: Assists Systems Engineering staff with the implementation of the adopted goals and policies of the utility
division.

subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to,
the following:
Performs duties associated with the development and update of the system models of the water, wastewater and
electric departments; including data input and analysis.
Performs special engineering projects for the utility division.
Conducts field investigations and field data collection duties.
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in
making adaptations and modifications to utility system models.
Utilizes, develops and incorporates advanced CAD, GIS and GPS applications and practices.
Researches, complies, and analyzes data and prepares reports for meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in an appropriate engineering
discipline. Five years of full-time relevant work experience performing duties consistent with those outline in the essential
functions. OR Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge of:
Methods, practices, equipment and materials used in the operation of a public utility operation.
Engineering principles and practices.
City ordinances, policies and procedures.
Construction specifications and standards, policies and procedures.
Machinery operation and maintenance.
Storm-water drainage, utility construction, utility system models.
Applicable state laws, Texas Administrative Codes.
Skill in:
Preparing concise and accurate reports.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Using computer and various software programs.
Reading manuals, journals, reports, office memos, correspondence, studies, and specifications.
Writing reports, letters, instructions, and memos.
Performing advanced mathematical calculations.
Interpreting policies and procedures; analyzing complex situations.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision,
hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
During field work, exposed to weather extremes, brief periods of loud noise from machinery, hydrocarbons, acids, asphalt,
and untreated water and wastewater.
