HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirport Maintenance WorkerPage 1 of 1 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Airport Maintenance Worker Effective Date: 10/01/2012 FLSA Category: Non - Exempt Revision Date: 01/17/2014 SUMMARY: Maintains grounds and landscaping and performs various maintenance tasks to help ensure safe, clean and efficient operation of airport facility and grounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Operates power mower and tractor to mow and edge grassy areas at the airport; tends flowerbeds. • Trims tree; cleans fence lines; removes debris. • Drives light truck to haul dirt, trash, supplies and to move equipment. • Assists in the repair and maintenance of runway and lighting systems. • Ensures constant functioning of runway lights by replacing defective bulbs or burnt-out fuses in lighting equipment. • Performs routine, basic preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure its safe and efficient operation. • Fills holes as well as levels low places plus bumps in runways taxiing areas. • Ensures that airport vehicles are properly maintained, i.e. general maintenance, fuel, diesel, oil, etc. • Operates a hand-held radio to communicate with supervisor, co-workers and the airport Tower. • Patrols airport to identify any safety or security hazards. • Performs other duties as assigned or required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines High school diploma or equivalent. One year of full-time general grounds maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of: • Methods, materials and equipment used in grounds maintenance. Skill in: • Operating and maintaining service equipment. • Working effectively with minimum supervision. • Operating and performing preventive maintenance on tractor and other power equipment and tools. • Reading equipment manuals and operation warnings. • Appling safety procedures to tasks. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Class C Texas driver’s license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls. Exposed to weather, aircraft engine noise, dust, pollen, and liquid petroleum products, and other chemicals.
