HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirport Maintenance CoordinatorPage 1 of 2 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Airport Maintenance Coordinator Effective Date: 11/20/2013 FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Revision Date: 12/02/2013 SUMMARY: Performs a variety of complex and difficult airport maintenance and operations duties with only occasional instructions. Ensures compliance with environmental and aviation related requirements of a General Aviation Airport. Ensures that the airport is operated in a manner that provides a high level of safety and customer service to the users of the airport and the citizens of Georgetown. Work is performed under the general direction of the Airport Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Develops, maintains, and oversee the implementation of annual maintenance schedules for all city-owned airport facilities. • Develops and maintains the Pavement Maintenance Manual in accordance with TXDOT AVN/FAA requirements. • Maintains airfield lighting, including runway and taxiway lighting; and other Navigation Aids. • Inspects airport grounds to ensure compliance with FAA requirements. • Completes and maintains compliance records and reports (i.e., SWPPP rainwater sampling). • Supervise and participates in airside and groundside facility maintenance activities, to include coordination with other City Departments and Divisions and outside vendors/contractors. • Maintains herbicide maintenance program. • Maintains airport grounds, (mows grass, trims trees, tends flowerbeds, and cleans fence line). • Ensures that monthly safety inspections are conducted and documented; initiates corrective action as necessary. • Ensures that status reports on safety activities and process are completed and documented within established timeframes. • Records and reports all accidents, incidents, injuries, theft, loss, and broken/damaged equipment/property. • Corrects all unsafe practices or conditions and reports those practices or conditions that are not corrected or resolved to the supervisor. • Provides assistance for emergency management, particularly in the areas of emergency medical service and human services. • Performs all job duties consistent with approved safety rules and procedure; attends and participates in monthly safety meetings. • Performs related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines Associate Degree (60 semester hours) from an accredited college or university in Aviation, Industrial Technology or a related field OR a nationally recognized certification directly related to the required experience as defined. Five years of full-time experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of airport facilities, grounds, structures, two years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. OR Any equivalent combination of experience and education/training that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. One additional year of experience my substitute for 30 semester hours of the required education, (i.e., thirty semester hours and 6 years of experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years of experience). Knowledge of: • Methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in Airport Maintenance. • Airport related mechanical, electrical, and custodial maintenance practices and procedures. • FAA rules, regulations, and procedures. • Record keeping and reporting procedures. Page 2 of 2 Skill in: • Performing semi-skilled and skilled work in a variety of buildings and grounds maintenance duties. • Operating services equipment and complying with safety procedures. • Communicating and interacting with Air Traffic Control Tower. • Reading equipment manuals and operation warnings. . LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas driver's license. Ability to obtain a CDL within nine months of employment
