HomeMy WebLinkAboutEmail AdministratorPage 1 of 2 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Email Administrator FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Effective Date: 10/01/2012 Revision Date: 05/30/2014 SUMMARY: Maintains all aspects of the City’s email infrastructure. Assists in maintaining the email servers and databases, and related applications ensuring proper configuration, uptime availability, performance and security. Supports the PC technical support team by responding to trouble calls related to the email system. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:  Monitors existing messaging infrastructure, ensuring proper working order.  Maintains and administers the spam filtering system.  Maintains and administers the email archive system.  Maintains and administers the mobile device management system, including support of end-user mobile devices connected to the system.  Maintains and administers the ticket system.  Trains end users to provide quality support to the city divisions in the use of email and related applications and other City technologies. Provides cross training to IT team members in technology.  Assists the technical support team in providing PC, laptop and software support to end users.  Creates Active Directory user accounts and maintains security levels on databases.  Handles information restricted to specific persons and is aware of meaning and consequences of improper administration or release.  Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines Associates degree from an accredited college or university in an information technology related field. Three years full- time relevant work experience. OR Any equivalent combination of experience, education or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One additional year of full-time experience may be substituted for 30 semester hours of the required educations with a maximum substitution of 2 years. Knowledge of:  Assigned supported software applications.  Operating systems used by supported mobile devices used by City employees.  Procedures and processes involved in administering organization-wide technology training.  Skill in:  Communicating effective, both orally and in writing.  Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, clients, citizens, vendors..  Reading and understanding technical manuals, policies and procedures, system documentation.  Writing clear, accurate, timely documentation.  Writing clear, concise memos in non-technical terminology to for managers and supervisors.  Performing arithmetic calculations of computer or network capacity. Page 2 of 2  Making simple projections and forecasts.  Exercising sound judgment in interpretations and decisions. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas Driver’s License Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) for MS-Exchange or the ability to obtain within agreed upon timeframe. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
