HomeMy WebLinkAboutAMI & Billing SpecialistPage 1 of 2 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: AMI & Billing Specialist Effective Date: 10/01/2012 FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Revision Date: 05/09/2014 SUMMARY: Operates, monitors, and controls the AMI system and related peripheral equipment. Reviews processes, edits and scrubs data to proactively resolve potential customer billing issues and problems by analyzing and interpreting consumption and reading data before the bill is generated. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Operates and maintains a general working knowledge of the five operational systems within the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Process. • Collects and imports daily reads, reviews and analyzes data; runs system reports and daily scripts. • Coordinates with proper departments to verify and resolve data issues. • Transfers weekly AMI reading data to the Customer Information System (CIS) billing module. • Prepares and processes data to load into the Mobile Collector for reads not received through the AMI system; processes read data from Mobile Collector into CIS. • Runs billing edits, analyzes and corrects anomalies on accounts; initiates credit and debit adjustments for billing discrepancies. • Verifies and corrects rate tables. • Coordinates, posts and reconciles payments for bank deposits; posts deposits. • Maintains, reviews, and audits utility rate master accounts. • Reviews and maintains special rate options. • Generates, reviews and posts bill files; upload files to third party processor. • Manages past due process for past due accounts; pursues the collection of bad debt balances on inactive utility accounts • Processes and manages utility accounts that have filled bankruptcy. • Manages the Hot Check process for the City. • Tracks and maintains by billing cycle the status of active utility accounts with past due balances. • Processes late notices to alert customers of their status; coordinates with Technical Services to disconnect utilities at locations that do not follow through with prearranged payment due dates. • Analyzes and interprets consumption and reading data from the meter edits before the bill is generated; resolves meter edits and impacts to account billings. • Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines Associate degree from an accredited college or university. Four years of full-time work experience in data entry, billing, meter reading technology. Two years of the required experienced must have included public contact experience. OR Any combination of experience, education and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One additional year of the required experience may be substituted for 30 semester hours (one year) of the required educations with a maximum substitution of two years. Skill in: • Using computer and various software programs. • Performing data entry with diligent attention to detail. • Operating a 10-key calculator by touch. • Understanding and executing oral and written instructions. • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. • Making professional judgments and decisions on customer accounts and issues. • Reading customer letters, memos, manuals, educational and leadership materials, analyzed data and reports. • Writing various correspondence. • Performing utility bill calculations and general mathematical calculations. • Interpreting meter readings for customers; analyzing data. • Solving problems and resolving issues and concerns.
