HomeMy WebLinkAboutTennis Center SpecialistPage 1 of 2 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Tennis Center Specialist Effective Date: 10/01/2012 FLSA Category: Non-exempt Revision Date: 05/30/2014 SUMMARY: Assists in supervising the operations and programs offered through the City’s Tennis Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Enforces facility rules and policies including issuing and checking ID cards, makes court reservations, prepares and maintains program attendance records, answers phones, opens and closes Tennis Center facility including handling money from fees, memberships, and merchandise sales. • Opens the facility and prepares the facility for programming, including posting court assignments, checking courts before play, unlocks gates. • Responsible for assisting the Tennis Professional with coordination of program advertising through flyer and brochure creation, making copies and distributing to the public, newspaper releases, etc. • Responds courteously to inquiries and/or complaints from citizens and assists in investigating and resolving complaints; upholds City’s values and contributes to the overall team effort. • Assist Tennis Professional with Tennis Tournament and Tennis League coordination including registration and paperwork such as draws, tournament desk, information packets, court assignments, and phone calls. • Performs program and membership registration, including but not limited to cancellations, withdraws, and refunds; informs participants of class changes; Makes court reservations and rings up proshop merchandise. • Performs court and facility preparation duties and routine facility maintenance. • Participates and assists with departmental special events and programs as needed (including evenings and weekends). • Performs first aid as necessary. • Completes forms and reports including daily cash balance report, settlement report, accident / incident reports, janitorial logs, and medical supply lists. • Assist with management of pro-shop including inventory inspections and updating report sheets • Performs Racquet Stringing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field with a minimum of zero to six months experience in recreational programming or tennis specific programming including tournament and league play, money handling and customer experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of: • Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR. • USTA rules and regulations for tennis play. • Knowledge of City recreation policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Skill in: • Skill and ability to speak and write effectively; work well with adults and children; establish and maintain effective working relationships; strong customer service skills. • Reads manuals, office memos, and warning labels. • Takes messages, writes reports and advertising material. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS CPR certification & First Aid within 6 months of employment. A valid class C driver’s license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
