HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 880388RESOLUTION NO. ee 03�- P- A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS AND DARNELL AND DICKSON. AUTHORIZING CONSTRUCTION SERVICES RELATED TO RELOCATION OF UNIVERSITY DRIVE WATERLINE AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE SAME. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas is the major distributor of water within its corporate limits; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that safe and efficient distribution of water is essential to the operation of the City's Public Utilities Department; and WHEREAS, Darnell and Dickson were the lowest responsible bidder to this project and the City of Georgetown desire to enter into an agreement for construction services related to water system improvements of the University Drive waterline relocation project and; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: Section I. That the City finds the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated herein. Section II. That the City Council awards the bid for construction of the University Drive waterline relocation and approves the agreement between the City of Georgetown and Darnell and Dickson for construction of water system improvemeats and authorizes budget transfer from Account No. 0603005432 into Account No. 0603005425, in the amount of $65,000.00 to fund the improvements, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth at length. Section III. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the contract documents and City Secretary to attest. PASSED AND APPROVED this 5Z�nd day of 1988. MAYOR -7 ATTEST: CITY -SECRETARY CITY OF GEORGETOWN MEMORANDUM FWATE: November 2, 1988 TO: Mayor and City Council City Manager FROM: Jim Briggs, Director of Public Utilities SUBJECT: University Drive Waterline Relocation Project No. 00425 The City of Georgetown has received bids for the University Drive waterline relocation as requested by the State Department of Highways and Transportation. Low bid for the contract was Darnell and Dickson of San Angelo, Texas, with a low bid of $59,517.50. This bid amount included installation of waterline, and construc- tion of new four (4) foot concrete sidewalks from Maple Street to Hutto Road, parallel. to University Drive. The City staff is recommending a project budget amount of $65,000.00 which is approximately nine (9) percent above the low bid amount. In order to fund this project, 1 am requesting that $65,000.00 be appropriated from Account No. 0603005482 into Account No. 0608005425. This will need to be done in order to fund the project which was mistakenly removed from the 1988-1989 Capital Program. The funding source from Account No. 0603005432 will be extracted from the Park water treatment plant clear well, which is not intended for construction this year. Therefore City Staff recommends approval of the low bid of Darnell and Dickson, Construction Company of San Angelo, Texas with a project budget of $65,000.00 funded from the aforementioned budget transfer. resolution.
