HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 880236RESOLUTION NO. f90a3Cv A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN AND THE GEORGETOWN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSING AND COLLECTION OF AD VALOREM PROPERTY TAXES BY THE GEORGETOWN i 1ENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown and Georgetown Independent School District desire to enter into an agreement for the assessment and collection of its respective taxes; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Independent School District has agreed that its Tax Assessor/Collector shall be responsible for tax assessment and collection for the City of Georgetown, Texas, and WHEREAS, the assessment and collection of taxes is a governmental service that is performed by the City of Georgetown and Georgetown Independent School District; and WHEREAS, the parties, City of Georgetown and Georgetown Independent School District, agree to enter into an agreement pursuant to the Interlocal Cooperation Act, Article 4413.(32C) of Texas Rev. Statues for Georgetown Independent School District to perform assessment and collection of taxes for the City of Georgetown, Texas. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS® Section I. The Council finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated herein. Section II. That the City Council approves the agreement between the City of Georgetown and the Georgetown Independent School District providing for the assessment and collection of City of Georgetown ad valorem property taxes by the Georgetown Independent School District and authorizing the Tax Assessor/Collector of Georgetown Independent School District to be responsible for tax assessment and collection for the City of Georgetown, Texas. Such agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein, as if fully set forth at length. Section III. That the Mayor Pro Tem is hereby authorized to sign the agreements and the City Secretary to attest thereto. PASSED and APPROVED this day of g-6 — �, 1988.
