A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY AND CITY STAFF TO NEGOTIATE A PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH DYNIX FOR AN AUTOMATED LIBRARY HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE SYSTEM FOR THE GEORGETOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas constructed a new Public Library in 1987 with voter approved bond funds; and WHEREAS, a portion of these bond funds were dedicated for a purchase of an automated system; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Public Library Board has received donations which they have committed to the purchase of an automated system; and WHEREAS, the Library Board and City Staff have solicited and reviewed Requests for Proposals from qualified vendors; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the benefit of the automated system to its citizens who use the library and its services; and WHEREAS, the City finds that DYNIX, a library automation corporation, can provide an automated system; and WHEREAS, the City desires to pursue negotiations for a potential contract with DYNIX for such services. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: Section I: The Council finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated herein for all purposes. Section II: The City Council authorizes the City Attorney and City Staff to negotiate a purchase contract with DYNIX for an automated library hardware and software system for the Georgetown Public Library based on the submitted Request for Proposal. Section III: The negotiated contract be brought back to the City Council for approval and authorization of the Mayor to sign. Passed and approved this day of Q, 1988.
