A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT BOARD
QUARTERLY REPORT FOR THE SECOND QUARTER FY 87-88 AS
PRESENTED.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
SECTION I
That the City Council accepts the Tourism Development Board
Quarterly Report for the second quarter of FY 87-88 as presented.

Tourism Development Board (TDB) second quarter activities in
large part focused on the preparation and presentation to the
City Council, of a plan for the development of the tourism
industry in Georgetown. In order to develop such a plan, the TDB
had to set about the task of becoming educated and aware of the
many facets of tourism and how they might relate to the needs of
our community. This self education involved two half-day Saturday
workshops in addition to attendance at various tourism related
seminars and a twice monthly meeting schedule for the quarter.
These efforts culminated in the preparation of the Strategic Plan
for the Promotion of Tourism and Convention Activity~ In addition
to goals and objectives in five areas, the Plan included a six
month budget and a recommendation to hire a Tourism Director to
oversee the implementation of the Plan. Two 'Requests for
Funding' were submitted during the quarter which coincided with
the formulation of guidelines utilized by the Board in reviewing
these requests. '
