BOARD FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTATION OF
THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT POLICY OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas wishes to pursuet to the fullest, economic development of
its City and surrounding planning area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council on March 10, 1987, adopted an
economic development policy that committed the Councilmembers
and City staff to cooperate with all agencies both private and
[!,ublic in planning and implementing a coordinated economic
a- •a program; and
WHEREASI the City Council wants the broadest involvemen
possible from our community and planning area. I
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS;
That an Economic Advisory Board be established by the
appointment of seven (7) top executives and professionals from
the business community at large. In addition/ the Mayor and
the City Manager will serve as members to assure continuity and
communication with the City Council.
The Economic Advisory Board will develop an overall
strategy for the utilization of all the available resources
within the City and its planning area. These includet but are
not limited to, Keep Georgetown Best, Chamber of Commerce,
Downtown Georgetown Association, Southwestern University,
Georgetown independent School District, Williamson County, and
any other private or public organizations that might provide
advantages for our economic growth.
The Board will advise the Council and recommend goals and
objectives regarding how the City of Georgetown may best assure
healthy economic growth. Both fiscal and general policy
recommendations would be developed*
The appointment of members of this Board will be made by
the City Council utilizing recommendations from the Mayor, City
council, and the City Manager, and it will be established at
the earliest possible date.
