HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 890386RESOLUTION NO. 8C)o-566 RESOLUTION REQUESTING RECONSIDERATION BY THE TEXAS WATER COMMISSION ON REVISIONS OF THE EDWARDS AQUIFER RULES AS THEY APPLY TO WILLIAMSON COUNTY. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas (City) has reviewed the proposed Edwards Aquifer Rule changes for Williamson County, and found that it is necessary to oppose the proposed rules as they have been presented. WHEREAS, the City deems it necessary to express its interest to the Texas Water Commission to reconsider the proposed rules as presented. WHEREAS, in order to secure future economic growth for the City, rules adopted for water conservation and water quality protection, should be provided, considering this growth. WHEREAS, the City has determined that by implementation of these proposed rules, that water conservation and water quality protection may not be best served. WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Environmental Resource Conservation Policy 2, Goal B of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY GEORGETOWN, TEXAS; SECTION I. That the City requests the Texas Water Commission take necessary action to reconsider the proposed rules as they have been presented. SECTION II. That the City is hereby officially informing the Texas Water Commission of its opposition to the proposed rules including but not limited to the following: Agri -Business, Edwards boundary changes, deletion of other affected counties, and water quality issues by virtue of recharge. SECTION III. That the City of Georgetown strongly requests new proposed rule changes for Sub Chapter B, in Williamson County, be specifically designed for the Williamson County area.
