WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has previously enacted a
"Dangerous Building Ordinance" which addresses substandard
4uildings in the City, and provides procedures for determining an
unsafe buildings or structure;
WHEREAS, the law regarding administrative search warrants has
Iteen revised to include the use of warrants to inspect unsafe
4uilding conditions, and requires cities to designate an official
to request such warrants and perform such inspections; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, through its City Council,
finds that it is in the interest of furthering the purposes of its
dangerousbuilding ordinance to designate it Building official as
the authorized official to obtain search warrants for the purpose
of inspecting an unsafe building;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO1#'ACIL OF TAE CITT
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are adopted
herein verbatim as if fully set forth at length.
The Building official of the City of Georgetown is hereby
designated and authorized to obtain search warrants for the purpose
of inspecting an unsafe building or structure.
This resolution shall become effective upon passage.
