A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REDDEST TO THE
SENATE SELECT COMMHTEE ON LEGISLATIVE
REDISTRICTING AND THE HOUSE REDISTRICTING
COMMITTEE TO COMBINE THE EXISTING TWO
LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY INTO
ONE DISTRICT DUE TO THE RECENT RAPID GROWTH AND
INCREASED POPULATION,
WHEREAS Williamson County is the second fastest-growing county in the State of
Texas; and
WHEREAS, several cities in the area have multiplied by 180%; and
WHEREAS, the population of Williamson County has attained a growth to 140,000; and
WHEREAS, Williamson County has been divided into two Congressional Districts,
District 11 and District 14; and
WHEREAS, the Senate Select Committee on Legisladve Redistricting has held beatings
throughout the state since March of this year to receive testimony from interested individuals in
preparation for drawing new district lines for congressional, legislative and State Board of
Education districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN THAT:
SECTION 1: The recitals set forth above are true and correct and adopted herein as if set forth
in verbatim;
SECTION 11Due to the population growth that Williamson County has experienced that
Williamson County not be divided fort Congressional Districts Stale Senatorial Districts, or Stoic
Representative Districts,
SECTION ID` The Mayor isauthimized to sign this Resolution and the City kfetary to attest:
