A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, REQUESTING DESIGNATION
OF THE -CITY "AS A GROWTH CENTER AS RECOMMENDED
IN THE CAPCO OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PIAN
SUBMITTED TO THE U;S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE,
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION;
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has demonstrated its
commitment to quality economic development by the adoption of the,
Strategic Plan for Economic Development as part of its long range
comprehensive plan, and the creation of the Industrial
Development Foundation;
{OHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has the vital ingredients
for growth in the Georgetown Municipal Airport, the Georgetown
Hospital, andSouthwestern University;
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has provided for the basic
infrastructure needs of economic growth and, through the Century
Plan - Development Plan element of its long range comprehensive
plan, will continue to provide for those needs in the future,
WHEREAS, the Capital Area Planning Council recommends
Georgetown as a growth center in the Regional Overall Economic
Development Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this action implements
Economic Development Policies 1 and 5 of the Century Plan
Policy Plan, and the Strategic Plan for Economic Development.
The City Council further finds that this action is not
inconsistent or in conflict with any adopted Century Plan
Policies or Goals, as required by Section 2,03 of the
Administrative Chapterof the Policy Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN; TEXAS, THAT:
Section One,
All of the facts recited in the preamble to this Resolution
are hereby found by the City Council to be true and correct, and
are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part
hereof, as if copied verbatim.
Section Two,
The City of Georgetown, Texas, hereby requests designation
as a growth center as recommended in the Capital Area Planning
Council's overall Economic Development Plan submitted to the O,S,
Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration,
Section Three,
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon
adoption,
