REM TRAILS NSIMRHOOD ASSOCIATION
3404 Lonesome Trail
Georgetown, "Texas 78628
The Honorable Tim Kennedy
Mayor of Ceargetown
Post Office Box 909
Georgetrnm; Texas 78627-0909
Re; Pilot Reacling Project
Dear -Mayor Kennedy:
The Resta Trails Neighborhood Association was chartered in February,
1989 and represents the approai>rmtely 300 families residing in the
subdivisions designated Reata I, II, and III. Sears III is more commonly
known as Serenade South,
Cr April 2, 1990, the Reata Trails Neighborhood Association (R'C A) '
Board of Directors unanimously authorized the president to develop and
submit a proposal for designation as the pilot neighborhood for the
City of Georgetown's recycling project: On April 17, 199D, the proposal
was discussed at a R1NAnaddership rating and was unanimously endorsed
by all members in attendance,
Since: the: initial development of the proposal, I have discussed
our interest with CoUrcilmn Saegert and he suggested that the Williarls
Addition would probably be interested in submitting a joint proposal,
as they adjoin our neighborhood on the south and have the Same pick-up
schedule. This combination would increase the nmrbber of proposed housing
units to over 600 units, Although we could not provide the standard
RTNA services to that area, ws will commit "the time and effort to help
any interested residents to form a neighborhood association for that
area. We will also encourage them than to promote the recycling project
and assist them in developing, methods to promote the project,
On behalf of the residents of Reata Trails, Serenada South, and
the wiiliams Addition, I would like to express our sincere appreciation
for the City's support of environmental concerns,
Sincerely,
r
Larry Crompton
President

Area to be served; Residential area located north of Williams Drive
from 1-35]*at toWagon Wheel Trail,
Pick-up Schedule: Monday and Thursday,
Percentage of Hanes to Participate: In a sample of 11,3$ of the homes
throughout Reata Trails and Serenada South, 97io indicated they would
participate in the project if offered by the city. Although the actual
Participation rate will probably be lower, the general enthusiasm for
the project is very high, The percentage of persons willing to participate
from the Williams Addition is unknown at this time. As a former resident
of this area; I -feel participation will be high, but probably not quite
as high as in Resta Trails,
Education and Promotion Plan:
1, RN has already promoted the project at a public membership meting
and will continue to prorate it at every future public membership meting
for the duration of the project,
2. RTNA publishes a mcnthlynewsletter which is distributed to every
resident of Reata Trails and Serenade South, The recycling project
would be promoted in every issue of the newsleter for the duration of
the project.
3. RIMA maintains a network of 14 "Block Captains" who reside throughout
Pence Trails and Serenada South, These individuals will bee arewell
informed concerning the project and will actively promote the effort
among their neighbors.
4. RIM will provide a team of experienced arsons to met with
individuals from the Williams Addition to assist thea in forming a
neighborhood association and/or in praooting the recycling, project,
