I I gal I .3 go Sol WHEREAS, the City has acquired the property at the northwest comer of Church and East Ninth Street (Cain property) which is designated by an historical marker, designating this site as the location upon which the City of Georgetown was founded; and, WBEREAS, the City desires to utilize these properties and facilities to establish a pa commemorating the locational founding of the City of Georgetown; and, I VAMREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements 11istoric PreservaticM and Urban Design Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "the ' will preserve, protect and promote its prehistoric, historic, and cultural resources" andCil al implements lEstoric Preservation and Urban Design Policy 2 which states "the City will utili an urban design program to- improve the overall appearance of the City; develop a positive ima I that identifies Georgetown; and enhance the attractiveness of the City from an environment aesthetic and economic perspective; and, 11 11 M 6 1 1 111111119MM, WIN% with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by-S—ection 2.111:3 ot the A ministrativi %114111 of the Policy Plan-, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TM CITY OF GEORGETOWN� TEXAS, THAT: 601 Kol M MW The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found arjffl declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The task of overseeing the construction and obtaining citizen input is assigned to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. 2. Development of the park must follow the concept design as approved by the City Council on November 13, 1991. 3. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee should actively seek the advice and participation of the Heritage Society and in this regard the Heritage Society has requested to designated two persons empowered to speak for the Heritage Society and to work with the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee in the development of the park. 4. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee should also actively seek input from other organizations such as the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Williamson County Historical Society as well as general input from the community. S. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee should also solicit public input from individuals and organizations in order to recommend a name to the City Council for the naming of the park.
