A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN,TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A
CONTRACT WITH THE DOWNTOWN GEORGETOWN ASSOCIATION
TO PURCHASE AND MAINTAIN DIRECTORY SIGNS FOR THE
DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
V4MREAS, the Downtown Georgetown Association (DGA) seeks to aid in that
fevelopment and economic growth through the provision of downtown directory signs;
VaMREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown. Texas. is committed to
development and continued economic growth of the downt•wn his'toric district-,
V41REAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Econorn
Development Policy 2 of the Century Plan which states "the City will continue to promote a
facilitate the development of the downtown as an economically viable component of the ret]
and business community; and I
VnMREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent or in confli
with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapt
of the Policy Plan, I
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF A
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
The Downtown Georgetown Association is authorized to purchase, install and maintain
up to six (6) downtown directory signs with private funding. The City of Georgetown will
connect the signs to electricity and provide electricity for them. The number and placement of
the signs will be subject to approval by the City of Georgetown based on traffic and pedestrian
safety and historic preservation. Design of the signs will be subject to the provisions of
Ordinance 75.12 and approved by the Historic Preservation Committee prior to installation.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto
contract with Downtown Georgetown Association on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
