.2-nd that within the State of Texas, 30% of its citizens are functionally illiterate, and that within
the County of Williamson, over 18,000 of its citizens are functionally illiterate; and,
WHEREAS, the Williamson County Literacy Council has served the people of
Williamson County by assisting in relieving the rate of illiteracy within said county; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown and the Williamson County Literacy Council desire
to enter into an Agreement for WCLC to provide reading and writing education services for the
citizens of Georgetown;
WHEREAS, the Council finds that this action implements Health and Human Services
Policy 1 of the Century Plan Policy Plan, which states, "The City will cooperate with public and
private health and human services related organizations to assure that there are comprehensive
and affordable services available", and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any
other Century Plan Policy Plan as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the
Policy Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE� BE ff RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT:
The City Council finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and
�ncorporated herein as if copied verbatim.
